Whats up to you all, nice to be here at AF.

I've read through a lot of your forums and noticed you all are extremely nice, thats comforting and kind of creepy. Its refreshing to see fellow artist being adults and helpful. But anyway enough of that mushy stuff.

I have a quick question for anyone. What kind of techniques or styles do you guys have for drawing tire spin and smoke. Example drifting.

anyway, tire smoke and spin is real tricky. My technique, though i rarely use it, is to erase where you want the smoke to be from the car. Erase gently and heavily, to give the illusion of translucency. Then shade curves both on and around the car for the actual smoke.

Im sure other people will have better tuts, but i dont draw smoke a lot. Oh well...i tried. Good luck and welcome to AF

Thanks for the advice and reply. I read that technique in another thread and I think I'll give that a couple of tries. But keep the advice coming. I think I'm gonna like it here at AF.

I have recently finished an RX-7 doing a burnout. The way I did the smoke was to use the eraser and tortillons to make light clouds aroud the spinning wheels and fender. Do not make a solid blotch or else it will look 2D. If you do it right it really looks like it's in motion!
