69 or 70?

Tell me, which you prefer and why. I can't decide between the two and i really like them both.

I also like both years (wait...... i like ALL chevelles 64-72 :biggrin: ), but i would choose the 69 because it combines the best of both worlds, it was still before the redesign of 70 and still combines the older design, but has a nice mean look. Either way, you cant lose.

In the age of muscle cars, the 69 just didn't offer the symbolism of the beefy 70 and even beefier 71 Chevelle. If you're looking for a sleeper or are just fond of the 69 body lines, to each his/her own.

70 with the LS6. Need I say more?

I like the feel of both my 1969 chevelle's. The SS has its feel of power and my Malibu has its own.

i was shopping around for a 1970 chevelle when i wound up getting my RS, still want a 70 SS or SS clone at some point down the road. just love the car, like the lines better than the 69 personally. but thats just individual taste.

the 69 looks a little more "elegant" maybe? the 70's body lines are a little more "blah" but thats what I like about it. Looks a little more ordinary, but with alot of power

This mite Sound stupid but i have a 71 chevelle and i put a 70 front clip on it because i liked the headlight setup and the tail lights in the rear.Call me crazy.

I Like The 69 Chevelle, Kuzz It Kicked Ass At The Race Track Last Night With 11.0 Sec Flat...damn All American Muscles...hahaha.

I love the body style of the 69, the front end is sharp, and awesome looking. I like it better than the style of 70+

Real tough call - my 2 favorite years...I guess I have to go with the 1970 for 2 reasons - 1) I think it has a little more muscular look than the sleeker 69 and - 2) because IMO, it is different enough as compared to the 71 and 72 at both the front (4 headlights w/ less chrome) and rear (square tailights), that it stands alone as a one-of-kind year...similar to a 69 Camaro being different enough from the ones before it, and after it.

1969 - The body had much better curves and style (just an opinion). :rofl:

I love the looks of the 69SS, but the 70 LS6 454 is just plain awsome!

can you really beat the looks of the '69 though? yes the '70 had the sick LS6(454ci-450hp) option ....but IMO the 69 looks better. And 69 is a cool fuckin #.....

I voted for the 70 Chevelle. Probably one of the baddest looking cars ever and probably the pinnacle of muscle cars. LS6 454 need I say more? I beleive those horsepower and torque figures were one of the (if not thee) highest until the Viper came along (with the exception of the ultra rare speciality cars like the Yenkos etc.). Boy do I wish they would have stuffed one of those LS6 engines in the Nova!

Both '69 and '70 are the cleanest Chevelle executions in my opinion -- Each has it's own "mean-ness" -- If I could pick between both, it'd be the 70 because of it's rep, but you can't go wrong no matter which you decide on. One thing that should matter is the engine and tranny... I'd take the big block of any size over a small block and a stick over an automatic anyday. Convertables are the rarest SS models regardless of drivetrain, so if you can get one, don't wait to think about it.

i love the 70. My buddy has an original 70 ss 454 black in his garage it has like 98,000 miles original on it. He had the car since he was 16, he bought it new. It has been sitting in the garage for 17 years, but was started every once in a while. He always has people wanting to buy it but he will never sell it. I got him motivated, so the other day, we did some work on it, and got it out of the garage for the first time in 17 years, it was great. It need little stuff done like it needs a new float in the tank, or sending unit, raditor overflow tank, cowl hood letter need glued on, needs new tires. Just little stuff like that. But that is one bad car.

i like 69 for the looks, but power 70 has it.

The 70 Chevelle is the best looking of the 70-72 body style. The dual headlights and split grill looked better than the 71-72 IMO. Also, the 70 was the last year before smog controls started choking the power out. The 70 LS-6 4-speed was the ultimate muscle car, bar none. The rating of 450 hp is a joke, it's more like 500+. The 69 is a nice looking car (the best of all the 1969 GM A-bodies), and I would be proud to own one, but the 70 gets my vote.

I know you didn't ask but 66 is the best. but between 69 and 70. 69 all the way for body has the mean nose similiar to the 66. not a big fan of the painted nose of the 70. the only thing the 70 has is the big horse motor and that can be added to anything. by the way either is still by far better than any Ford or Mopar.:iceslolan

I know this thread is pretty old but since someone else already bumped it I'm gonna go with the 70 chevelle. I've got a 72 and gotta admit that the 70's front end looks so damn sexy...

I like the 70 better. The body just simply has better looks. But I think the 72 is actually the best becuase its got only 2 headlights and the body is just so sleek and sexy.

69 I love the lines

They are both so similar yet two completely different looking beasts. I like the bulky appearance of the 70 yet I also like the grill/bumper/bezel set up of the 69........Sorry, I can't decide
