Check engine light

Does anyone know if there is anyway of knowing what the check engine light is specifically indicating.

Take a $13,000 SDS laptop from a dealership and read the trouble codes. :smile:

Thanks for the help.I own a jeep that has codes which anyone can check so i wasn't sure if the mercedes works the same way.
