Just got back from my first ever 1 hour personal training session. Didn't even do the full program the dude worked out for me and can hardly stand! 3 x 12 on the leg extensions at 150kg for 6 second reps and I could hardly use my clutch on the way home. Gonna go lick my wounds. Meant to be clubbing all night tonight. Shit shit shit.

no pain no gain  i personally like it when my body hurts the next day cause it feels like i actually accomplished something, instead of going to the gym for nothing

if you work out until failure every time, you wont be sore. well, i am sore when i take some time off and then change my routine.

oz, learn to shift without using the clutch. hehe. i can do it, but i dont. make sure you hit the adductors and abductors, it seems as nobody does.

Then again you always have to be wary of overtraining and injury.

FUCK. Went to Mardis Gras last night (with fuck off gorgeous Swiss chick snuggled up nice and close :evillol: ) then clubbing to Hard Trance for 3 hours. If I thought I was sort yesterday...

And I'm meant to be going back and doing the whole routine on Tuesday. Holy crap!

I will post up the whole routine when I bring it home on Tuesday and get some feedback on it.

Yea, please do that. I hope you don't mind if I use some stuff from your routine, because I could use some change.

Not a good idea.. working past failure is the best way to gain muscle.

taking time off DOES NOT help unless you mean like work out every other day.... but if u mean like take a week of from working out... it may hurt but it doenst help muscle growth...

No, I'm talking 48 hours minimum recovery time.

it should be 48hr max rest when you work out... it is recommended to work out 3 times a week, or every other day....

Just kidding. I know exactly how you feel though. I nearly fell down the stairs after doing a legs routine once. They felt just like jelly! :p

I'm not talking about the leg press - I can push about 340kg on that, it is like the muscles at the top of your thighs clean lifting upwards.

I am in so mcuh pain still today (Monday - 48h later) that I am starting to worry. The muscles feel completely seized. I can't walk straight and it's affecting my sleep really badly. Is there anything to be done for it?

When I played hockey mate I played up to 7 games a week, a-grade even. Used to get that, would be teaching myself how to walk each week. My tip, might not work, but it can, take a long hot bath, rub it all the time you're in there, and use the muscles, ie - when my legs TOTALLY DIED (I went from the leagues quickest player on the weekend to the slowest in my club at wednesday training every week) I still trained, get them moving, pump blood through them, nothing TOO drastic, but get the muscles active.

As for the sleep deprivation, welcome to my world, the fitter I get, the less i sleep, lol, because my body lets me punish my legs more, they used to be HUGE but I paid for it in other ways. I cant wait for that stage again, lol!!!!

many people on here have a lot to learn. i said i take a week off when i CHANGE my routine. you know, go to endurance training from strength...change exercises/sets/reps. geez!
working to failure is best for me, it may not be the best for everyone. i work out 1 muscle group 1 time a week. after 2 months of training, i take a week off.....read up on this, this is what bodybuilders do.
after taking a week off, i change EVERYthing about my workout (even the amount of time resting between sets). i wanted to do this for a living, but that would be a complete waste of my intellect. hope i can help.

Edit: i should have said i FOCUS on one muscle group once a week.

Legs are still nailed this morning (Tue) and I slept like crap again. Gonna goto the gym today and focus on upper body.

yes.... but body builders are in the gym almost every day.... and work out once muscle group each day.... and they dont switch of from endurance to strength after every 2 months... first they eat a lot and bench heavy weight at low reps... once they are they size they want to be, they start to cut back on the eating a little bit and start doing a lot of reps at a low weight to get better muscle tone... when they are about to compete they cut back on water and eat carbs to get rid of the "puffyness" of their skin so all their veins and muscle fibers stick out

they do change it up though, even when not going into competition. you do seem somewhat educated in the matter, even for being what, 15 if i remember. 6 weeks before a competition, i read that bodybuilders cut back on carbs on a serious level-an unhealthy level. also, you are correct about cutting back on water.

oz, you need to stretch and drink an insane amount of water...i would also eat a healthy amount of simple carbs to replenish your glycogen levels...if you do these 3 things that i have stated, the lactic acid surrounding your muscle fibers will be 'washed away'. therefore, no more soreness-you can have a good night.

As far as carsb go, unless you're an endurance athlete you shouldn'thave carbs of any noticeable amount after 4pm.

yes, the catabolic steroids in your system tore the heck out of your muscle fibers. you sir have overtrained. just continue pushing it as hard as you can every time...you wont be sore.
for those that dont know, here (http://health.howstuffworks.com/muscle.htm) is how muscles work. that is one interesting read, but it wasnt indepth enough for me. i shall find another link if i can for a better description/explanation.

I find overtraining weird, one week I rode good solid km's for 3 days, felt perfect, the 4th day, rode only 42km's, damn did it kill me!!!
