Hi guys this is my very first post so i'm going to get into the details that i have planned, any suggestions and help will be very much appreciated:)
ok i have the engine D16z6 which i am going to dissassemble tommorow so that i can get the block tanked and honed and then i'm going to replace the pistons with zc pistons for higher compression(i was told that if i use the d16y8 head gasket i would bring it up even more?)also can i use the stock rods from the z6? i also have a light flywheel i just bought that weighs 12 pounds and a crank pulley that weighs 1lb 4oz, i also bought an OBX intake manifold(get one on ebay it's a beautiful thing)and Dc sports headers. now what i need help with is that i was told that in order to use the d16z6 tranny i would have to get a mount cause the one from the d16a6 has different mount placement any help on this would help, also what has to be done to convert to obd1 keep in mind i have a 91 crx si harness, which is the best setup to run computer wise?please help thanks guys:) also if their are any links please post.

I would stick with the Si tranny and keep the Z6 as a spare. And in the case of OBD, I'm personally keeping all my wiring because Iam just doing a Z6 head swap and just worry about maybe a vtec controller. With the Si ecu, A6 block, dizzy, resistor and wiring, you can do a mini-me head swap only requiring complete head with solenoid, FPR and rpm switch or V-AFC or whatever other controllers you prefer.

i'd like to add here... *DO NOT* use a lightened crank pulley. hondas are balanced slightly with the crank pulley, and on the 1.6L engines, the stock crank pulley has a harmonic dampener in the pulley which consists of a rubber-like layer inside of it.

if you use a lightened crank pulley, your engine will have a slight vibration that will destroy the bearings in a short time; 10-20,000 miles.

the flywheel will be fine, provided its balanced which any reputable part will be.

from my experience, all d series rods are identical provided they are from a 1.6L engine. this includes d16a1, dohc zc, and d16a6/z6/y8. stock rods will support almost 200hp with no problem, so you should be okay there.

for an ECU, if you really want the absolute best, i would suggest converting the car to OBD1 and using a P28 ECU. If you dont do that, then use a PM6 or PR4 ECU, perferrably chipped with the correct fuel and timing maps for your sohc vtec engine.

ok sounds good so i will be going to Obd1 with the p28, question will i need the interior wiring harness or just the engine wiring harness?also on the s20 tranny is this tranny hydralic? how much can i sell it for as i would need the money for ecu and harness i would've love to keep as a spare but due to the diff mount locations from the crx si tranny (L3) i don't think i will be needing it. also guys i heard that i need to keep the z6 injectors cuase the si injectors won't be ablt to be read with the p28 is this true?cmon guiys keep it coming, and thanks for the help Oh i also found this link but i dont know how accurate this guy is:) http://www.thezcr.com/html/odbiconversion.php

you'll need OBD1 injectors, and OBD1 distributor, and the corresponding plugs that go with them. you dont need the injector resistor box anymore.

I suggest buying an OBD1 ECU conversion harness to make things quick and painless unless you are very good with soldering and have patience, you can make your own with some pinouts that can be found online in many places.

ok i gotcha so if i was to purchae the 92-95 engine wiring harness and a p28 ecu and i should be fine? are the crx si injectors no good then? just use the zc injectors? how about the tranny s20 or L3?

Hello? use the s20 from the z6 or the si from my d16a6 L3 series? also do i have to get the crank balanced when installing the p29's

you cannot use the 92-95 engine wiring harness, but you can use the plugs from it to wire up your engine accessories. use an L3 tranny. you shouldn't have to get the crank balanced.
