Lowering my front end

I'm wanting to lower my front end on my 91 formula and was wondering if there was a way to do it without changing the springs. If I shortened the sway bar linkages would it pull the front end down?
Thanks in advance!

The sway bar is connected to both front suspensions, but is free to move somewhat in the bushings. It applies pressure when the car is cornering by applying twist from one side to the other. Shortening the linkages would not pull the car down, it would just turn the bar slightly in its bushings. You can lower or raise a vehicle that has torsion bars rather than springs, but for your auto, you will need to change springs. There may be lowering spindles available for your car, but that would cost more than shorter springs.

I just figured since the sway bar connected to the body and then to the lower control arm if the linkages were alot shorter it would pull everything together, would be alot of tension on the linkages but if the right grade bolts were used they wouldn't matter. It would sort of take away from your suspension but firebirds have rough supsension anyways. I understand what your saying though and appreicate the info. Has anybody installed any lowering springs on there T/A or firebird and how was the handling?
Thanks!
J.

Lowering kits always reduce ride comfort and IMHO ruin the car for daily driving.

If you want better handling, there is lots you can do to improve it without lowering, such as aftermarket sway bars, shocks, tires etc.
If you really want the lowered look, you must lower the rear, too.

Do not install the front springs unless you know what you are doing. The existing springs are under great tension and could fly out and take your head off if you remove them wrong.

Thanks for the info! I'll prob. just order the springs. You know how low the new corvette front end is to the ground? That's how I want my formula.
