1993 blazer steering column replacement

so my new (to me) '93 blazer shifter is REALLY stiff. this truck is a replacement for my old 93 jimmy which has a perfectly good shifter in it. should i do a column swap? how hard is this? or could this problem be something simple i could fix more easily...
