Fail-safe Mode in Audi 100

I have a '93 quattro 100 that went into fail-safe mode today. I'm not sure why it did this, but it was raining very heavily and there was a lot of standing water on the road, so I'm wondering if this did something to the electrical system.

Has anyone else had this problem with any of their Audis? If so, will the system reset itself after the car dries out for a few days, or does it need to go to Audi to have the system reset?

I talked to two dealers already and one said that it would probably need to be reset, wheras the other said that there is nothing to reset.

Weird....I started it today (two days later) and now it's fine. Guess it must have been the wiring.
