this one was one of my favorites, we were out street racing one night and 3 of us from ThunderCruise3/S were in front of EVERYONE pulling into the parking lot we were meeting at, so i had to snap a picture. On the far left is my friend's Chris's 92 VR-4, and then my 94 SLTT is in the middle, and then my other friends 93 Stealth RT/TT is on the far right. And then next to K.D., you can barely see if my other friend, Robby's WRX

There is a ton of stuff that getting done to the car. Ill make a list some time.
The work isnt all that hard, this is the first car I have ever done most of this stuff too. Ive found that when your not afraid of breaking stuff you learn the most, and most things arent as hard as they sound or look.

doh' well yea, i can't do that. i am currently dumping about $6000 into go fast mods so that is pretty much wiping out my money for a while. hopefully i will have another several grand before next summer and that is when i will do the vls and the suspension/driveline/breaks mods.

Considering what they're used for and how infrequently they are needed (how many cars have doors opening like that?) the price is going to be quite high indeed.

The cheepest kit other than the VLS one is 1800 and its generic, meaning you have to fabricate some stuff so it will work on your car. Cheep it is not, but it is cheeper than everyone else, and its made spacifically for the 3S.

that is really cheap acctually. if you wanted to take your car to a shop and have them fabricate you something like this it would probably cost around $5000 - $7000. it takes a lot of time and energy to make something like this that works well and then you have to get a good cnc machine to make them and it costs a lot to have work done on a cnc.

i know the guy who designed the vls hinges spent a long time designing them so that they would work very well, i think hundreds of hours would be an understatement. designing, testing, redesigning, retesting etc. if he only spent 200 hours (i am pretty sure he spent a lot more than that) that would come out to $2000 in design lobor alone if he worked for $10 per hour. that would not include time on the cnc or the materials used and good luck finding someone to do a project like that for $10 per hour. what i am saying is that if you wanted to get one set just for you, i think you whould have a hard time getting what he has for less than $5000.
on the other hand, if you have access to cad tools and a cnc for free (the cad software is very pricy and the cnc that the vls hinges were made on cost about $1,000,000) then you could have these hinges for very cheap, the cost of the materials, which i would assume is in the range of a few hundred dollers at most. this guy can now sell them for $1500 because he can make a profit off of that and the hard part is done. also he spent a lot of time and effort to get air struts that were just right for our doors and he made a design that can open oem or verticle just by inserting or removing a pin.

I could prob get the materails and machined for under a grand by dad, I would have to someone design them :banghead: , that little pin feature is pretty cool do they make kits for other cars?

Thank you. Close up should be fixed now. I know I should just go for the VR4, but for what year I am looking for is quite not in my price range and I am also buying the car from an auto broker. He is a friend of the family and buys from auctions nation wide, he says he only comes across VR4's once and a great while, but on the other hand he printed out 32 cars that up for auction nation wide and there were only Base and SL's listed. As much as I really want a VR4 right now is not the time, I guess. So there is nothing wrong with an SL, besides when I do bring home a VR4 it will have a SL waiting in the garage for it.
As for my little Honda right now, well, I call it a 'he' only because, it has never given me any problems for the hell I have put it through *knocks on near by wood real quickly*. I bought that car for autocross, not a daily driver, but unfortunately, to make a longer story shorter, I had to wake it up from sleeping for a year, yet not quite ready to be revived, had to put it on the road as a daily driver and it now has been two years on the road after sloppily put back together. Never dragged the car, remember it is a Del 'Slo' when it comes to that, but he handles like a dream.
Tenzo; upper and lower rear strut tower bars, upper front strut tower bar, upper and lower, front and rear sway bars, open lower air intake, short shift, and 17" tenzo R rims with yokohoma *bad spelling maybe? Also Ibach struts and springs. Front and rear cross drilled rotors w/ ceramic pads. 2.5" exhaust from headers back, gutted cat and carbon fiber, if I remember right Flowmaster...? I happen to be working on the fuel rail up grades when it had to be pulled back out onto the road. :disappoin
Ohwell, it will be back in the garage soon though, at least shortly before my B-Day, becasue that's when the dead line is for the 3GTSL.
There's a little more info.

Yea I hope it runs as good as it looks, makes kind of a funny smell when I started it up today but i think it might have been some soap that got into the engine compartment when I washed it yesterday. The only complaints I have are with the audio system one of the tweeters is kinda scratchy and the stupid volume nob type thingy is totaly $&%#ed up and hard to controll. And yes this is my first experience with a manual. And to post an pic directally in most if not all web boards the format is " URL of the pic you have hosted elsewhere " without the quotation marks of course, hope that helps clear thigs up AZN.
