My tranny is my 97 Z/28 SS is slipping...any other option besides rebuilding 100%? Like maybe just a new torque converter?

nope, if its slipping it means internal failure, either the bands are weak, or the clutches are burned up. converter is a seperate deal.

Throw that POS out :swear: , GM can't make a overdrive trany to handle any torque or HP. I swear, how can they go from a th-350/400 tranny that is all sorts of bullet proof to the 700/200-r4 to the new 4l60e or what ever it is called. Such lovely eigineering, if they are going to make cars with HP and torque, BUILD A DAMN DRIVELINE THAT WILL HANDLE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go with a switch pitch 400!! screw overdrive!!

Sorry for venting, I just finished of the tranny in the Buick lastnight :swear:

Yea I don't know what the deal with the stock trans. are. My car has 85,000 miles on it. Yes when I first got it I 'played' with it a lot; out of sheer excitement. Ya know, gassin it every chance I got. But that phase lasted only like 2-3 weeks and since then I've been treatin it great. I'm not gonna lie and say I never punch it on the highway, but whatever. I think the trans. in a car like a camaro should be built strong because...well it is a camaro, and GM knows what the drivers are like opposed to the drivers of, say, an economically sound car. However, I'll assume the guy before me beat on it and its not all GMs fault.

Also, at the current time its kind of impossible (money) for me to upgrade my trans. A friend of the family will rebuild it for 800 bucks so that will have to do.
