Should I buy a 86 escort

i was wondering if a 86 escort is a REALIABLE car? the car has about 98 thousand. i was wondering how good are the stock motors and trannys. i need help im looking at buy one thx.

get a shop to check out this beater before you buy it. it doesn't matter how reliable a car is if the owner beat it to death it won't last long. if it's a standard and the clutch hasn't been replaced yet i can garantee it will go out on you.
