Help ME!!! window cranks

i have a 1996 cavalier and i want to remove my door panels to replace the speakers in the drivers side and passenger doors. i got instructions on doing that and i got stuck at the window crank removal. ive tried doing it with a rag, to pust the clip or whatever but it just dosnt seem to work....does anyone know otherways to remove these cranks or have any advise for removing them with a rag?

I own an 89 Cavalier, so I'm assuming they still use the same technology on the hand cranks. The crank handle is held on by a C clip, so the idea of the rag routine is to cover the open end of the C and force the clip off. The basic problem is that you have no way of knowing which direction the C clip is facing, so while you want enough rag material to force it off (ie. wash cloth thickness should be plenty) you do have to keep attacking it from different angles until you get it just right. It takes a little perseverence, but you should be able to get it with trial and error. If you've got a dinner knife or some other narrow flat surface handy, you may be able to determine which direction the clip is facing, and if it's wide enough, possibly pop it off with that.

go to napa or whatever parts store you like and buy the tool it costs maybe $5 and works great. you push it towards the open end of the clip and it pops off. to reinstall the handle pop the clip in the grooves then push the handle onto the splines should snap in place. good luck!
