It all depends on what you can and cannot do plus what tools you have. How about we start with that?
1. 180K is alot miles for a motor
2. slipping clutch, the motor and trans is going to have to be pulled to do it right
3. just what are you going to want to be doing to the car, restoring it or just making a car run?

Your question is very open ended!!!!

I think if I did it all over again I'd completely over hall everything at once. I replaced the cluch on a '85 2.5 5-speed. It was in my garage so I had to drop out the transaxle, and engine.... Basicly I dropped the entire cradle.
anything you need to know about maintaining them you can figure out as you go. To clue you in they have a rep for needing lots of maitnence, but all said and done I'd say it's worth it.

Well, if your not going to be driving it soon than if you start to do one thing such as the cluch do as much as you can while everything is out. Clean up everything, change plugs and wires, mod. and coil pick up, do whatever motor upgrades then.

Don't forget to paint the exposed part of the head when you have it out. It makes things stay heeps nicer.

Get the best Fiero you can afford. Its cheaper in the long run. Chances are that Fiero is for sale just because the clutch is so expensive/difficult to replace.
