997 Worth waiting for?

I ordered an ’04 996 C4S cab last weekend for delivery in June and am now reading about the coming 997. The trade off appears to be sooner gratification from a car that, until I read about the new one, was just fine, versus waiting, probably a year for the cab, getting more HP, round headlights, and what is described as a better interior. You decide. Majority makes my decision (no dealers please!)

well its safe to say the 997 will easily outperform the 996, but its whether you want to wait for the 997 taking into account if youve not got your name down already youll be looking at an extra year after release until delivery.

Depends on how long you can wait and which 997 model you want. The 997 C4S Cab is scheduled for 2006.

Had 2 996 - defintely wait -- Buy a 993 cab an wait for 997 - you can get mint 993 all day long for under 50 -- whatever you pay for 996 - take off 20% 5 seconds after 997 hits -- Nobody likes the 996 -- their not great - certainly not worth of 75k plus prices --

Trust me - Wait !

Thanks Rebrab. I've reached the same conclusion and while I hate to wait, I will do so at least for the 997 cab if not the c4s version.

It seems you really dislike the 996. That being the case, I'm curious why you've owned two of them? Personally I find the base 996 exterior to be too understated (maybe that's why), but I love my 03 C4S (blk and blk), and if there wasn't a C4S version of the 996 I would have purchased a used 993. Regardless of the 911 model, I don't think you can go wrong. What an awesome car. I guess it all comes down to personal taste.
