dist rotor won't rotate

My 3.0L 94 Grand Caravan quit running without any hint of trouble--no missing, no backfires, no surging, nothing seemed to be going bad. I was on the highway running about 70mph and it quit like turning the key off. I checked several things and finally discovered the distributor rotor doesn't move when the engine is turned over. I removed the distributor hold down nut and tried to remove the distributor but it won't budge. Is there another fastener holding the distributor down or what is causing it to not come out? Also, I called a local dealer service department and was told this was a non interference engine, but I probably have a bad waterpump. Looking for some experienced feedback on this. Thanks.

Sounds like the distributor o-ring is rock hard and has fused the dist. into the adaptor. Try rotating the dist housing and just keep pulling straight up. Lightly tap it with a small hammer if need be. There are no other fasteners holding it in.
It sounds like you've broken a timing belt for some reason either age, or faulty tensioner/waterpump pulleys ?? Pull the front cam sprocket cover off and watch the sprocket as you turn it over. There are 3 small 10mm bolts holding the cover on. If the sprocket doesn't move then the belt has failed for some reason.

Thanks for the info. I will try again to remove the distributor. You are right about age being a factor in the belt breaking. I have 241,574 miles on this and never have had a valve cover off.

Thanks.
