Trooper pumping oil

1999 3.0 Turbo Diesel pumping oil into exhaust manifold. Anybody out there have any ideas?

Usually this means you have oil from the crankcase getting up past the rings, but it could be coming down through the valve guides. If either of these is the case, it should be running really poorly with a lot of smoke.
