stupid question?

alright, i bought my 89' firebird formula, around octoberish... and i'm still not positive weather or not it is a 350.... im pretty sure it isnt, b/c i think it would have a lot more power if it was. but i just wanted to know if theres any way to tell the difference between a 305, and a 350 without checking the serial number on the block??? if there isnt, then can you please tell me where the serial number is??? b/c i sure cant find it ;x

I'm not intirely sure, but i don't believe they put 350's in 87's. But you could try decoding the vin number. that would tell what the original engine size would be, i believe. But then again, you might not know if its the original engine.

No, I am wrong, I think the 350 was first used in 87, sorry. Yeah try a vin decoder.

I'm pretty sure it will be a 305 but get the vin and do a search with www.google.com for Firebird VIN number and you should be able to find it. I think that is how I did mine.

use www.thirdgen.org , it will tell you, if you got your vin # handy. and that is in the bottom drivers side of the windshield.

chacnces are its a 305. but i may be wrong, i dont feel like looking right now

no, i meant the block serial number, i have carfax on the car, and stock it was a 305tbi, and now it has a tpi unit on it, so i wanted to know if they took out the 305tbi and put in a 350tpi or if they just put a tpi unit on the 305 block, but my question was where is the BLOCK serial number located?? thanks

the block serial number is located under the drivers side head at the back of the engine.
