My timing chain guide is rattlin (like all 240s and it's kind of annoyin. I took it to a mechanic when I first bought it and he says I need to replace my timing chain, though when I went on here people said it's just the timing chain guide and it's not a big deal. So my question is when did you all get your timing chain's replaced and how much did it cost??? I heard it's a costly repair, and wonder if I will need to replace it anytime soon (car has 95k miles on it currently)

to have it replaced it cost on average about 800 dollars for everthing but the guides are not necessary. nissan added this part for safety then realized they didnt need it after they installed it because any sudden change in oil press and they will just break agian also i was told there is a risk of those plastic guides screwing up the engine cause mi8ne broke to and they charged me about 100 dollars to clean it and inspect everything for damage. my car had 96k on it then and he said the chain had about 40-60k left on it before it needed to be changed.thats about all i can tell youi wouldnt know if yours needs it or not just remember those mechanics are trying to make money they will tell you stuff like you need to get this fixed now or youll blow you engine just to make some money. id ask around before i did anything.
