i was wondering if you can put a resistor in for the second o2 sensor on my 98 gst because i have no cat.

I am going to say yes right now, I think the resistor would be different.

why? are you getting a CEL? i only ask cuz i have had my cat off since the second day i owned the car with no problems.

That is odd. Shouldn't you get one for the rear o2 sensor. Do you have a test pipe or gutted cat.

my first exhaust was 2 1/2 custom piping from the DP back. i got it on the second day i had the car along with a k&n fipk. i have never had a CEL come on.

yeah, my cel is on. it says "fuel trim malfunction"(Bank 1), so i think it may have something to do with the o2 sensor not reading right. It may also be because i have a 255 fuel pump and no regulator, so im gonna get a regualtor in a little bit and bolt that shit on.

i have a 255 with no regulator too and i still don't have a CEL. you should post a thread regarding the reading.

i have, and nobody can even seem to tell me what could be a possibility.

Well the fuel trim malfunction is not from the second o2. I really dont know what that CEL means so i dont know, but it is not from the second o2, and the resistor only works for the second o2

Yes. If it was the rear sensor the code would read catalyst system efficiency below threashold bank 1. The fuel trim code is typically the trims maxed out in one direction or the other. Could be from a massive vac leak, bad front o2 sensor, etc.

do you think it could be from my maf. I removed the 2 side and the one lower honeycombs out of it but i left the one that is by the sensor on. A guy named Gabor who is the one of the DSM kings of the midwest said that that is my problem. what do you guys think?

Yes, that will cause it. The ECU has 12.5% range ont he LTFTs, and 16% on the STFTs. So 28 total. The hacked MAS can alter air metering by over 30% at idle, putting the ECU out of its adjustment range thereby causing that code. Try unhacking hte MAS, its uselss anyway. :)

I have the same 0170 engine code on my car.My car is bone stock. The mechanice said check the o2 sensor so i'll find out tomorrow.Would this make the car not run right with a bad front o2 sensor. And wtf is unhacking the MAS

how do you test an o2 sensor to see if it is bad.
