Power windows not working

I've seen this issue brought up, but have never seen an answer: My '93 Passat GLX Wagon VR6 has intermittent power windows. Sometimes they work fine, other times some, or all don't work. They get stuck open, they get stuck closed, they even reverse function (you want them to go up, they go down). Most recently, none work at all in the fully closed position. When I actuate any of the window controls, I hear a clicking sound coming from the unit located under the left side rear seat cushion. Is this unit the culprit? Any idea what it's called? Is it something else?

that's what myn would do until I replaced the control module under the back seat. Expensive too!!! Cost around 300 dollars for a new one if I remember correctly.

I've been told by the local VW dealer that it is the Window Regulator Control Module that's shot. He's giving me a price around $400. I'm off to the junkyard...

I've been told that the same Window Regulator Control Module was used in '90 - '94 Passats. It wasn't used in any other models. And no luck at the local junkyard; anybody got a lead on a good one?

There's tonz of places on the web that deal with used vw parts. Try searching and check around for prices. You could also try calling www.germanautoparts.com . maybe they can get it at a reasonable price. good luck.

Try car-part.com, look under computer box - not engine. It doesn't list it specifically but select one of the modules & it will give you a list of yards that have the vehicle and their 800 phone numbers.

I am starting to see problems with window controls also.

Passenger side rear window no longer works (for the last year)

Now I just noticed that the power to the windows after ignition shut off that usually lasts a minute or two no longer works. (Note - I am having some ignition problems with secondary pressure so I have to start twice to get engine to start)

Any input appreciated

I located the window regulator control module at German Parts Warehaus (800-464-5284) for $75.00. Hope that does it...
