GSX or GST

im looking to buy an eclipse and trick it out and make it fast which model best suits my needs and do the GSX's break down easier than the GST please help

GSX!! Turbo + AWD = the shit!

1st of all are u racing in the 1/4 mile or on the highway. the reason i ask is the gst is lighter than the gsx so if you are racing somebody on the highway and you are in a gst it woulb be faster than a gsx. the reason being the gsx is all wheel drive so off the line you are getting a larger jump and u can launch better. so in the 1/4 you would be way better of with the gsx now if you aren' and you just want a faster car allready on the go then a gst!

It really depends on what you're looking for. First of all I"m kinda biased as I personally hate fwd cars. With that said the GSX/Talon TSI AWD is actually an excellent sporty car that can be modded easily(cheaply)...particularly the 1G's. I'm looking for one right now myself. The GST's are alright, but fwd cars understeer, have torque steer off the line, and in general don't quite handle as well as their awd counterparts although the awd's do weigh a bit more. The 2G turbos have an issue that comes up somewhat frequently called "crank walk". This usually becomes an issue once boost is raised and whatnot. Check out www.dsm.org for tons of info and even check out www.dsmtalk.com which has some helpful members (although there are a lot of ricers on there too talking about Altezza taillights and crap like that:bloated: ). Personally I'd say go with a late 1G ('92-'94) as they have a stronger 4bolt main and slightly bigger brakes. Plus turbo upgrades on them are much easier/cheaper as Mistu 16G turbos and even 20G's (with some modding) will bolt right up. Granted it's not quite that easy, but it's not a super huge deal either. 2G's come with a Garrett T25 and require a conversion kit to go with the Mitsu turbos. There are tons of DSM tuners around as well: www.roadraceengineering.com , www.buschurracing.com , and www.extrememotorsports.com are three very reputable and knowledgable tuners that come to mind. I have a '97 Talon TSi AWD, i was driving home from work late at night - it was raining out and i was kind of miserable about it. The traffic light turns yellow so i try to speed up to go through it but then it turns red. A few seconds later, a trans-am pulls up and starts reving its engine. I turn to look and smiled. I reved mine a little. I knew I didn't have a chance, but since i know trans-am's suck in rain, I decided to take the chance.

30 seconds goes by and the light turns green - i pin the gas pedal and move. The transam was burning out and sliding all over the road. I had about 4 or 5 car lengths ahead of him before his traction started working. I kept holding it in until about 80mph on a 55mph road.

Note, my car is completely stock except for a cheap K&N air filter, not even an intake. Its also automatic.

At the next light, i stopped only to see him slow down and make the right. Too embarrassed to see the big smile on my face!

During rain is the only chance a 4cly turbo charged car can beat an 8cly transam or camaro!

don't mess with them in the nice weather unless you got a lot of stuff under the hood.
