I recently bought a B16 from JDM. I put it in and sometimes when I am driving it will start to sputter and not go anywhere. It is like there is no power and then all of a sudden it kicks in. What is the deal here. Is it the knock sensor or what? How can I fix this problem. Please help me.

B16 from JDM
:sly:

um yeah anyways, check your spark plugs or wires, that's most likely what it is. I had a jimmied metal intake that pushed against the distributor cap on my b16 and the spark from one wire would arc to the intake, robbing it from the cylinder and the engine would studder on and off.

There wouldn's be a problem of the wires being to thick would it. What if I replaced my spark plugs. I just got a new distributor for it. I do not know what to do

Before doing anything take off your dist. cap and check the rotor/copper connectors in there. If they're even slightly corroded/dirty, change them out for a few bucks. If it's all perfectly clean, yeah change the plugs with some ngk's or something. Make sure they're gapped to .050 (which they should be if you buy a set specifically for a B16) and if that $5 shot doesn't work, change the wires. The thickness won't make the engine studder. Just wondering, do you have thick smoke coming out the exhaust?

No there isn't black smoke coming out of the exhaust. I am just getting tired of this problem. Even when I am driving about 65 mph. I can feel the car studder a little bit. I can feel it lose power for about half a second and then kick in. I do not know what that is

Well do all the above first, and if that doesn't fix it you may have one or more clogged fuel injectors. But try that first and let us know how it works out.

I had the same problem with my b16 swap, it turned out to be the one of my fuel injector connections was wired bad. When I drove it around it felt like I was running on only 3 cylinders then all of the sudden it would run 4 and it would be a huge difference. So I would look into that.

Hello I have some questions and I need help. My brother had a ZC in his hatchback for racing and everything it ran great for a year but the car got hit. So now he has a 1990 or 91 4door civic that had the single fuel injection. Well he redid the wiring for the additional injectors and the other additional Items but he isnt getting any spark at all. The original car was a 5 speed and it ran like a champ. The car that its in now the 4door was running proir to the swap. But now that the swap is done the computer is giving an error 6-10-13-20. In addition we took the distributor cap off and it is getting hot enough to burn your hand if you leave your hand on it. Can someone help me out the previous car ran perfer(the hatchback) but in this car it doesnt want to work right.

i always give the motors i swap a cylinder compression check, oil pressure check, and vacuum diagnostic check after the swap just to see if i will encounter any problems after the swap and pinpoint it later if it occurs. leaves some of the guess work out.
