I know enough about these threads not to waste that much time downloading on a 56k modem.I'd ask for the Cliffs' Notes, but I'd probably be disappointed anyway. As everybody knows, the whole world changed on Sept 11th.

It was a clip of a news report of Cheney saying that the US needed more energy production to keep up with demand.
Nothing earth shattering about it and what it has to do with 911 completely escapes me.

What Chaney was saying is that we need to burn more oil so that his and george's stock goes up in value..Why else would a president go against public opposition and drill for oil in the alaskan wilderness and endanger the environment? Bp/amoco has found the largest deposit of oil 100 miles south of New Orleans and is going to take an estimated 200+ years to even put a dent in the amount of oil thats under the seabed..Bush doesnt own stakes in BP/Amoco. So we will kill the fish and bears for oil we dont need to fuel his greed... I dont like the democratics agenda but cant say im happy with bush's bumbling in the white house..Go ahead and take on all the arabs while our economy falls apart..we dont mind....As long as they just blow up each other and not us,I dont really care what they do.

So many misconceptions. In order to be president and vice president, they had to sell all shares in any companies that they were associated with - oil or otherwise. To bad congressmen don't have the same requirements (but thats another story).
You really confused me with saying BP found oil a hundred miles south of New Orleans and then talk about them killing bears for it. I didn't know that there were bears in the New Orleans area and that they could swim so far out to sea. In any case, I would like the price of oil to drop. Demand always rises here (population increase will cause that even if everyone drove a more gas efficient vehicleeconomic ) so until someone develops an alternate fuel vehicle that has the infrastructure to support its use, oil is what we need. You can think that someones motives are less then stellar but that fact is we do need it.
The economy is doing quite well. I'm sure the people looking for work think otherwise, but 5-6% unemployment is better then most countries in the world. My retirement funds are growing nicely. My sister found work after graduation.
Please make sure you head to the polls to cast your vote in November. But, be sure you know exactly what the politicians are saying and why they say it. Do not fall into the trap (which we all do to one degree or another) of only believing what we want to. I have some severe reservations about the way Bush is handling illegal immigration and homeland security (parts of it). However, those reservations are not enough to make me run to Kerry. Look at his voting record in the Senate and its opposed to 90% of what I feel is right.

Hehe. Thanks for the explaination Yogs. I knew what it was about, I was just saying that in general context. Not really asking a question. Thanks anyways though.
