Manual Transmission Fluid

Hi Guys. Can anyone tell me where to locate the manual transmission fluid resivoir on a 2001 Tib? My clutch is now way too low to the floor and when I press it down, it won't come back up enough. There's too much play. Also, with the clutch pressed down all the way, I have to grind myself into 1st and 2nd gear from neutral. This is the way the car drives until about 45 minutes of highway driving, when all of a sudden it's not a problem to get back into 1st or 2nd. All of the other gears shift without too much of a hassle. I'm hoping that filing the transmission fluid resivoir will solve this issue. Please let me know what you think! Any help is quite appreciated. :iceslolan

Not to sound like an ass, but have you ever drove a manual transmission before? Maybe you've burnt out your clutch plates??? If you also keep driving that car with grinding them gears, you're gonna tear that stuff up, and those aren't cheap parts to replace. Hell....you'll probably have to end up replacing the whole transmission if that keeps up?? :nono:

Yes, I've had my license for 6 years and every car I've owned has had a manual transmission. I've had all types of vehicles: a 1991 Isuzu Impulse turbo 5 speed, a '92 Eclipse GSX 5 speed, an 1988 Ford Tempo with a manual transmission. I've even owned a brand new 2001 Jeep Wrangler sport with a 5 speed. Plastics still on the seats when I picked her up and put 115,000 miles on that car and not one problem with the transmission. Is it possible that the idiot before me didn't know how to drive a 5 speed? Possibly. But that wasn't my question, so I'll ask again. Can anyone tell where to locate the transmission fluid resivoir? Thanks guys.

welll ask the dealer.... you should still have some type of warranty right?
id see if they could fill it.. and while youre there see if they can check the clutch

Thanks Nisco. I dropped it off at the dealer here in Boston this morning. Their guess is that it's the slave cylinder or a leaky rubber boot between the transmission and the clutch. I'll update as soon as I find out.

have you bleed the clutch line?
that should be the first thing you do when something like this happens.

What's happening fellas. Well, it seems that my slave cylinder was leaking tranny fluid, so unfortunatley I will be without my Tib for the weekend. :puke: Anyways, it was under warranty so I should have her back by Monday night after work. :lol2: Next mods are going to be KRD headers and an OBX air intake, hopefully next weekend; that with my magnaflow exhaust (already installed) will complete the exhaust system. After that, I'm on the the strut bars, suspension, rims, and a paint job (probably graphite).
One quick question though: does the Ram Air hood on the importshark site provide a significant difference in the air/fuel mixture, or is it more just for looks?
Hopefully I'll get some current pics up mid-week.
Thanks guys!

yeah, the only thing hoods with vents will do on a tiburon is maybe keep the engine a little cooler. unless someone designs a crazy ass intake for the tib to work with a ram air hood.

i havent seen one good aftermarket hood for the 2nd gens yet...
stock hoods... c/f oem style and ram air hoods and this other craptastic hood....
if anything i say see if you can find another stock 2nd gen and do something custom with it.. meaning vents and what not... a good shopo hould not charge you very much for something like this
