I have ruind already 3 windows of my 1:24 2cv in progress because the glue (Uhu plast, quite a good glue) didn't stay at the edges of the windows. I have rebuilt these windows from CD boxes, but I have the feeling that placing the windows is like some sort of lottery: sometimes they get in perfect: the other time it's just glue everywhere. Is there someone who can help me wit this?

I always use a special glue (especially made for clear parts) that doesn't melt the plastic.
Even if the glue goes on the windows, you just wait for it to dry and then you remove it easily.
Anyway, this glue dries clear, so if the amount is not big, you don't even have to remove it.

Only drawback : this glue has no powerful adhesive property.

The name must be "Humbroll PolyKlear" (not sure).

Well, The Uhu glue I use works perfect, it is adhesive as hell. It does dissolve paint a bit, but when it is dry the paint is also dry an flat (no bubbles or wrinkles) again. I just need a technique to place windows without messing everythin up. If it's not a tip for me, it's a tip for someone else because tonight I'll probably place the last window (the glue also dries quite fast, you see. Yet, It's not advertised as fast drying glue, second glue or instant glue or something like that).

I use two part expoxy to hold my windows in. It does not melt the plastic, and when you put it on a surface to adhere, it stays put and does not run or drip. The only thing you have to be careful about is getting it on your fingers and smearing it around, or it squeezing out from between the mating surfaces as it's almost impossible to remove.

Use Krystal Klear for gluing clear plastic parts.

Use Evergreen clear styrene sheets for replacing clear parts.

Well, all the windows are in now and I think the great trick is to apply less glue than you think there is needed to hold the windows in place.

I usually just use White Glue on clear parts; it shrinks a little when it dries, but it dries clear, haven't had any problems with it yet.

another tip that helps is to temporarily tape the glass in place onto the inside of the roof or sills while the glue dries. this gives the glue a chance to set onto a window that isn't sliding around.

Hi 2cv, have you tried taping them in and then touch a bit of Future to the corners. Capillary action will draw it around the edge and dries clear. Not the strongest way but better than having glue on the windows. Also evergreen makes very nice clear sheet styrene. Mike

Can i get any of these glues on hlj.com or other internet stores, cant find anything :(

I haven't tried any of your solutions because I was finished before I've read them. I kept my windows in place by placing a courque (I don't know if that's spelled right, I mean something you put in the bottleneck of a winebottle to keep the wine in te bottle) on the windows while the complete 2cv was in the correct position. I left it drying for a night afterwards. I'm afraid that using tape on this scale and on this car might not work because applying the tape will make the windows slide a little, so the glue spreads over the windows. I have made 3 new windows, all from a clear plastic CD box.

i use lean liquid glue to let it run through the gap, hold it with my fingers until it dry completely.
