air conditioning compressor problems

I need to replace the A/C compressor bearing, mostly because I do not want to bear the cost of a new compressor. Can't figure out how to get it apart. 94 Chevy Silverado. Replaced everything last year for A/C and worked great but compressor bit the dust last week. I do all my own work regardless of what it is but have never cracked open a compressor. Any help?

don't bother to learn on a compressor. If you miss something, all the expensive freon will leak out and you will need a recharge again for $$$$
Try a wrecking yard for one.

It's 134 so it's cheap. The problem is, it was working perfectly and ice cold so I didn't want to break the seal. Definitely wouldn't do junk yard for a compressor as I want one that will work. Just need a hint as to how to remove the clutch. I have done everything else one can do to their car and my employment is as a mechanic. Just never done one of these and don't even want to start without some help.

There are special tools involve when replacing the clutch and generally it just burns out the new one because the compressor is the root cause of the failure. however you can rent the installer and remover at most auto parts stores.

Thanks. We convinced the parts store to replace it with a new one, as you could see it still looked brand new. The bearings in the compressor were definitely bad as the pulley rocked back and forth. Doesn't say much for the replacement, as we don't often have good luck from A.A. o n important parts.
