i dumped my boyfriend today. During the relationship i had strong feelings for him, but then all of a sudden i felt so angry toward him. then i dumped him sort of out of the blue. THen i went to talk to him afterwards about it and i asked him "if turning back time and given the choice, would you have put less effort into the car and more effort on this relationship and me?" and basically he still chose car. I cant believe him! NOt only did i compromise but i was almost settling for less during the relationship! he is so retarded, seriously something is wrong with him for choosing his car over me. Wouldnt most of you agree that gf/bf comes before car?

Wouldnt most of you agree that gf/bf comes before car?

Nope.
Car first. Motorcycle second.

I learned that the hard way after putting a LOT into a realtionship and getting dumped on my ass for bullshit reasons anyway.

Lesson learned: the car will never leave you and tear your heart apart.

Anyone who puts their car before their partner is an idiot. Unless the partner is not right for them. You made the right choice.

Well when you are talking bf/gf I would have to say that the car comes first or is at least equal unless you are seriously thinking about marriage with this person.
If you were talking about your spouse then I would say they come first.

Partner should come first, if you can't put your significant other above a material possesion then you shouldn't be with them.

There are three things a women should never come between, that is, 1. The Car/truck 2. The Toys (ie. Bike, Boat, Sled, Quad etc..) 3. Food.

If a women never comes between a man and his vehicles and his food, there will never be any problems.

Neither do they cheat on you, talk to you during the game, make you go shopping with them (and spend 3 fucking hours in the dressing room), or complain when you go to the strip club or play poker with the guys.

I have nearly put as much money into my car as I have into girls and the bottom line is... the car is still with me and the girls are not. Maybe I'm just bitter but it is nice to know that a car will never leave your ass so it can have "some space". But to be honest I rarely touched my car when I had a girlfriend, but now that I'm single looks like I'll finally have time to detail the engine bay. So to answer your prompt, under most normal circumstances I would not put my car above a girlfriend.

I have to say I'm with the females on this argument. Human relationships should always come before a tonne or two of metal thats base purpose is transport. Think about it - you use your car primarily to get from where you currently are to more humans (relationships).

Gimme the gorgeous Swiss chick from last Saturday over ANY car ANY day.

Wouldnt most of you agree that gf/bf comes before car? How long were you dating?

What kind of car does he have?

Explain how you were angry "all of a sudden," please. You mean to say you completely weren't bothered by him spending time and money on his car at all, then "all of a sudden" you were bothered by it? Or was there a gradual progression that you're omitting? Did you ever talk to him about it before you dumped him?

Basically, his actions over time told you that his car was more important to him that you were. You were not happy with this assessment, so you left. Is that an accurate summary?

i think that the girl should come first... and even if he did say that he would choose the car, did u ever think that maybe he is still mad at you... did u explain why u dumped him "out of the blue" maybe he would take you over the car but u dumped him first and then asked so maybe he thought it wouldnt make a difference, since you are already broken up and he wanted to get u mad also...

Hey, at least i'm not bullshitting them from the getgo. If only the women i date(d) could do the same for me. I'm so sick of the relationship bullshit, that i'm perfectly having my toys #1 in my life.

That's not to say that I won't spend a penny on a woman. Sure I will. But the fact of the matter is, my hobbies are expensive and I realize that, so I don't mind losing any woman who gets mad at me for spending 5 grand on my car and not on *her*, because then i'll know what she was after in the first place.

Indeed! :D

Though there may be some subtle flaws in this idea, overall it'll make you more of a Challenge. ;) And who knows, maybe you'll find a real woman who's low-maintenence enough to be able to deal with that.....

I don't know. Me and my car have been through a lot together. Any girl that latches on to me will have some serious catching up to do. They'll just have to learn to get along. It's really between the car and her, I probably wont get involved.

My Bavaria is skeptical of new female passengers. The last girl to ride in my 2002 that wasn't my sister was... the previous owner. Yikes.

i dont think a girl should ever get mad for spending more money on your car than her. i hate girls that think you need to spend money on them, wtf. so i would probably choose my car (well, my next one) over a gf. i am going to be putting all my money into my car. but my bro is lucky cuz his gf doesnt mind him spending all his money on his car.

You dumped him out of the blue. Hell, I'd still be pissed. What did you say? "Oh how are you? Yeah, I want to break up?" I mean really. You should have tried to work things out. I would have chosen my car too...not like I actually do the work on it but I watch someone else while they work on it but same difference. I think he's got every right to choose his car over you.....just my 2 cents

So you basically think since he doesn't spend all his money on you, than he's not worth keeping as a boyfriend and therefore got the boot.

well i guess i have to say g/f before car. but then agin i dont have a car yet and as much as i love cars. My g/f comes first but she is understanding about it. she knows that since i have to get a car (its almost required for my major :grinyes: ) that her ring might not be the fanciest. but yeah sorry to hear you broke up. if he said car before you he defntly should go, you should find someone who treats you better then his car, otherwise the relationship wont last unless you like liting to him talk about how he changed the oil and bought all these parts and got you a 3$ bear for v-day.

anyways thast just me

so does that mean that you'll be giving me your Toyota for my birthday present so you can kick it with the gorgeous Swiss Chick?:p

lets see

The only time that the car let me down was when B12 died......

Girlfriend has let me down plenty of times.......

which one should i pick? hmmmmm.....

plus trying to seperate a guy from his ride is like neutering an animal...they're still around, but not the same as before...hell if anything in my prenuptuals i'm gonna have it say that i get to keep my Japanese Sports Car and i'm not selling it..... i don't care what you say cars are my lifeblood, my passion, and my ultimate vice...you can't seperate me from them and it'll stay that way....:2cents:

the last time we had spent together went like this: i picked him up from work (his car has been in the shop the whole time we went out) I live 35 min from him so i always drive to see his ass. i brought him home. asked if he wanted to go out, but he said he was too broke and too tired. 5 min later his friend calls and all of a sudden my bf has the energy to go gamble and drink. and his friend lives even farther away! so he gets drunk, loses $10 (although he was supposedly broke) and ignores me the whole night. then by the end of the weekend i dump him.

lotusonwater19

and we always spent equal amount of money on each other. but i was the one who always put in more effort. i'd visit him at work and bring him yummy food. i would bake stuff for him once a week like cupcakes, oreo cookie pies, chocolate chip pies. drive 35 min to then 35 back to see him. and im always stuck driving since his car is in the shop. but i have told him it bothered me that he gave his car 100% and me -100%. He and I both have integras. his is a 99 LS, mine is a 00 GSR. We both love cars and bike, but he's really materialistic. I understand the car is important, but if he gets hurt his car wouldnt be the one to care for him, his car isnt gonna give him support when he needs it. And i have time for my car and him, so why doesnt he have the time for me?

And I dont think its me...cuz I was a great girlfriend to him (in my opinion). I love tahitian dance and he loves that I love it. I'm bi (but i object to a 3some with him). I love cars. I love sport bikes. I love making food for him. I look better than most import models. I take really good care of my body by eating healthy and working out. I dont drink. I can carry on a great conversation. I was raised well-off, but i've earned everything myself not from being spoiled by parents. He's irish and I'm chinese-vietnamese-french. My measurements are 35C-24-35. and he s getting a beer belly!
