I had the same probelm for a while. All you have to do is pull straight up on the damn thing. There is a spring under it that you may want to remove if changing the shift knob. There will be some blue dust stuff under the knob also. I had to ask someone, so don't feel bad. Just pull straight up hard and don't bust yourself in the face. :naughty:

You dont just pull on it!!!!!! There is a C clip in the front of the shifter, take a flat head screwdriver and pull out the c-clip the shifter will slide off.

Some of the advice on here... Geez, makes me want to choke someone

The spring loaded thing that puts you in reverse has nothing to do with getting the knob off. Try twisting it around like if it were to twist off. This might loosen it up a little. But, all I had to do on mine was to pull it straight up and off. You have to pull kinda hard, but that should do it. The knob itself just sits on top of the spring loaded piece. I took the spring loaded piece out once I got my knob off and it works fine going directly into reverse without pulling up on anything. Hope you can get it off :evillol: :sunglasse

and besides, looking at the picture with your thread, if that's your car, you have the 95-99 version. The 00-02 version of the car is a little different, so I could just possible be right

If you still can't get it off, you might try going to an Autozone or maybe a chevy dealership and asking them to help you real quick. I was going to try that before someone told me how to get it off.

That's cool,stylez24. I was hoping that I wasn't crazy and just didn't see a c-clip or anything. And congratulations to jmarkle24 for finally getting that piece of shit off. It pulled straight up didn't it? Just checking, cause if it didn't, I guess I broke mine or something. :iceslolan
