Looking for an RX-7

I've been searching in earnest for a 79 RX-7 or a late 80's (not up on generations). Any of you have leads to sites that auction or sell off rx-7s besides e-bay and autotrader?

there are many places that let you search for cars. They include MSN, Yahoo, autobytel.com, carsoup.com those are just a few let me find my list and get back to you on it

Uh... ok.

Fucking forgive me for not being Mazda's Knowledge Guru...

I guess some people forget that no car enthusiast knows every god damn thing about every god damn car ever god damn made. So damn sorry for not living up to your standards.

here is an idea, do some research before being so god-damned mediocre.

Seriously.

How hard is it to research and realise what years/models came with what major trim difference... EG,. turbo vs N/A (naturally Aspirated)

Here's an idea.

Don't be such a fucking ass when someone asks a question.

God forbid someone know less than you, someone with an extreme elitist attitude that needs to be checked.

You act as though just because I don't know the major differences between god damn RX-7s - I can't drive a car nor do I know someone who could tell me whether or not it has it.

It's like 10 at night - my father is at work (24 hour shift paramedic) and had he been on hand I could have been like "Hey, dad, which models came with Tubo's"

You wasted your time voluntarily so quit yer bitching. If you didn't like it you didnt have to fucking post.

I'm sorry you thought I was a bitch, but, guys like you are the reason rx-7's have a bad rep. You buy them because they are "cool" and "drift cars" then dont do any research on them, fuck them up, then tell everyone how shitty rotaries are. Meanwhile its the person, not the car.

What does your dad being at work have to do with anything? You are obviously on the internet posting this. There are plenty of sites to research. Before I buy a car I do at least a weeks worth of researching it.

Where do you live? I have a 88 TURBO RX-7 I may be selling.

I don't want an RX-7 to drift.

I hate drifting... it looks cool but I don't feel like I want to lose control of my car to look cool. Unless I'm fuckin around in a parking lot - I want all 4 tires hooked to the road at all times.

What does my dad being at work have to do with it? I could ask him. Part of the reason why I want an RX-7 is because of him - he's a car fanatic like me and more I heard him talk about how much he missed his old RX-3 SP, the more I wanted something like a 2g RX-7. That and he still remembers the basic mechanic work involved on an RX-7 so if anything goes wrong I can just go to the garage with him and we can sit down and work on it together. And learn more about rotaries in the mean time.

I can do a weeks of research on the net - but why? He suggested I get one with the turbo already on it so I don't have to waste time trying to install one on an NA one. Sounds like a good idea to me - less work for us to do.

I know I'm not the best driver in the world - and I may end up fucking up once or twice and breaking something in the engine - but I can work on it because I have someone who can help me for free. In the meanwhile - I learn from my mistake, fix my car back up, and go on with it. Humans learn best from mistakes.

As for where I live - it's Kentucky. Depending on how much you sell it for, how much money I have on hand at the time, and where you live - I can come pick it up. the 2g is the ones I wanted - 1st gens are too old for my father to want to work on, and 3g's look too much like my mx6. If you're honestly worried about it - I take good care of my cars and if anything broke - I wouldn't waste time with popping the hood and trying to find the problem and fixing it. You won't see it in a junker while I still have the will to fix it.

Definately get one with a turbo already. Turning an NA into a turbo is rediculous, but you could always SWAP in a turbo motor, tranny, harness et cetera. You can also either find one working, or with a blown motor (very cheap) and spend 1500 or so to put in a working turbo motor.

sorry but the 3rd gen. rx-7 93+ does not look like an mx6

Aruba27

second gen started 1986, 3rd gen starts 1993. that's the years you want to look for.

Soyo, the body shape is too close for me to really care about the added power etc. for it.

mine was released in sept of 78, and it only has the driver side mirror, and the hood prop is on the other side. its still the 79 FB, but i like to brag about the rarity.

Does it have fender mirrors? The 1979 rx-7s are sa22's, not fb's....

I didn't say anything about the power or anything, all I said was they don't look the same, not at all, totally different.

I see a few similarities - it's just me. I'm not saying I'd confuse the two, but I just see a few similarities

Take away the spoiler and that mx6 is mine. Thats where I get the similarities - besides the popups - the rx7 is only a little smaller and sleeker.

Soyo
03-07-2004, 10:55 PM
and the rx7 has a long front and short back, the mx6 has a short front and long back. and the back of the "cockpit" can't think of what to call it, I'm on pain pills haha but anyways the back of the on the mx6 slants really long and the rx7 is a lot more up and down... but in a slight slight slight way the have a resemblence :)

Mediocrity
03-07-2004, 10:58 PM
I think it's because my MX6 sits lower than stock that I see the similarities more.

You need to see a third gen in person so you can see the interior also. They are absolutly beautiful.

Oh, I agree. I checked out a few just for kicks when I was looking around - I think Mazda in general makes good car interiors. I dunno about the rest of them, but I know my 6 is deceptively comfortable as well.
