ok, I know my clutch is worn down clutch engagement was way off the floor for a while and I just made a 1500 miles trip and on the way back when I let the clutch out i started hearing a kinda metal to metal sound like the rivets on the clutch disc were either hitting the plate or the fly. still drive fine though, anyways, today I put the clutch in, backed out of my driveway and then put in clutch, put it in first, took off and everything was fuien, but when i put in the clutch abnd shifted to 2nd I knew it didnt fel right, so I stopped but it wouldnt get out of 2nd, I let it roll and it came out, startd it and it wont go into any gear, I looked to see if the resorvoir was full and it was, not visible leaks anywhere on the line. put it in first and started it and then engagement was RIGHT on the floor, like pushing it in and starting it the car still jerked, so I went wihtout the clutch to 2nd then 3rd around the neighborhod, back to 2nd clutchless and bakc into my driveway. the pedal still felt good when it wasnt runnign though, so I took off again to try, and this time when I was going in 2nd gear, I pushed in the clutch and it didnt slow at all, I left the clutch pushed and punched it and it was stil grabbijng full strength cuz tghe car shot forwards, so i let off the pedal but it didnt come out, so I figured a line was leaking and just blew right then. so I get it to my hous, turn it off and then pull out the pedal and it now worked again. I bled the clutch and it still didnt work, my carpet was a bit wert and the boot on the master was a bit moist as well so I pulled the one from my civic and put it in and rebled the system and it still doesnt work. I am going to replace my clutch soon hopefully and I will probably find a brokem plate finger or a popped spring or some crap like that but was wondering if anybody had a good idea of what it was?

The easiest way to check is turn the car off and try shifting through the gears, if it goes in relatively easily then the clutch has grenaded, if it doesn't then there is an internal problem with the tranny.

it goes right through the gears when the car is off, but when the car is started in gear it sometimes wont even come out of gear unless you tap the throttle a bit. anyways an exedy kit is on its way. and the B20 will go in as well, all I gotta do to it is lap the valves and then im ready for a serious power upgrade. I sure hope at least, 2.0L 11:1 and the addition of headers should make my car a "bit" quicker than my now 1.8L 9.(6?):1 engine.

and would you say full synthetic in the trans will smooth out the shifts a bit, I got some synchro noise from 1-2 and 2-3, and I heard from 4 runner owners that redline MT-90 fixed there nitchy shifting but mine takes 10w30 not gear oil so I dont know, or do you think just plain honda MTF would be much better than shell 10w40?

go buy a clutch kit... this includes your throw out bearing which sounds bad also.

problem is your clutch isn't releasing off the flywheel properly, this could be caused by a bad throw out bearing, or broken/cracked fingers and bad pressure plate, or both.

I had a similar problem in my car a few months ago. got so bad i could only shift into reverse or 1st if the engine wasn't running and then when i tried to start the starter would move the car. then once i was moving i had to shift w/o the clutch at about 5000 rpm for it to shift. I mean i could push the clutch to the floor and the clutch wouldn't release at all.

So anyway you need a clutch kit. this will include a pressure plate, friction disc, throw out bearing, alignment tool, and pilot bearing if 94 and newer needs one.

oh, I know, I have replaced a clutch in a VW, and in a 93 GSR like yours, and I have a exedy kit coming in the mail, I am guessing it is a popped spring just because in the 93 I helped my friend replace it, his sprgin had popped out and bent the fingers on the pressure plate, and it shows similar symptoms to my car, not a continual problem, symptoms always change, depending on how that spring decides to settle I guess. even though with the engine running the only way the spring will settle is the rotational g force or whatever would hold the spring as far from the shaft as it could et.
