When you say it "jerks the front wheels" - what do you mean? Do you mean the engine seems to be out of gear and the engine rpm's increase until finally 1st gear grabs hold and engages resulting in a "jerking" sensation? And this all happened only after replacing the engine?

Well, after 2 transmissions doing the same thing, it's fairly safe to say that it's not the transmission clutch packs, nor any other other control on the transmission. It doesn't seem likely that the same symptoms would just happen to occur in 2 transmissions that you have owned......unless you also have poltergiests. So let's think for a moment of when the problem first cropped up. When you swapped engines right?

I strongly suspect that perhaps some engine/transmission control component was not properly reconnected. Or, one of those components on the new engine is "different" or bad. There are numerous input "feeds" that tell the PCM (Powertrain Control Module - computer that monitors engine and transmission and controls both) what to do. Perhaps you have left one wire disconnected or perhaps broken a component or snapped a connector so the wires don't connect right.

Back to the basics friend. Your tranny worked fine, then you swapped engines, then the tranny didn't work. I have to agree with your gut instinct - the first tranny was never bad. But that's hindsight. Now it's time to move on and find what happened as a result of the engine swap.

Before you conclude that all the sersors are good, get the car hooked onto a really good diagnostic tool.....like Snap-Ons Modis (or is it Modus?). They can capture some error codes that haven't occurred often enough to turn on the check-engine light. You have do some serious diagnosis and come up with a plan before swapping any more parts. Good luck.
