fiber glass body kit

i just ordered a fiberglass drift kit for my 99 Z24... i know the poly kits last longer, but how bad is the fiberglass on chipping and how long will it last me approx? is there anything i can get done to the fiberglass kit b4 i get it painted to make it last longer?

If you take care of it and dont hit any curbs they can last a pretty long time. When you have them paint the kit make sure though they actually primer it and put an extra coat of clear on it. Theres also this stuff called X-Pel, its a clear material that you can put on any part of the car that actually can protect it from anything possible, like hail, rocks etc. I recently had someone paint my fiberglass body kit and to make sure it was dry he actually threw a handful of rocks at it and it didnt chip or anything. Make sure you do the research on a place to paint it though.

Fiberglass kits suck ass. I just put one on my toyota a couple months ago and it cost 530 shipped. Between the time i got it to now i have put about 800 into damage repair. Right now I am looking into getting a poly fiber body kit from sensemotorsports.com because i heard they were almost as strong as polyurethane but about 50 % lighter. Your first mistake was buying a fiberglass kit.

K after having a year behind me of bodywork, engine work, and mobile electronics... i just wanted to say my peace on fiberglass kits

need work! will need body work on them to fit properly... so add another 200-300 ontop of the bodykit price...

if the kit is hit, as long as you ahve the major pieces to the kit, it can be repaired
a urathane kit cannon if hit badely enough

overall i think that the urathane kits are better, BUT im putting the new BMW headlights on my cavalier and with the fiberglass kit they can be molded into the kit, with a urathane kit, they would be A LOT more money to make them fit n look proper...

a year of mistakes n work on a car can teach you a lot, its a lesson that can hurt your walllet though, my suggestion is, talk to people who have gone threw the aftermarket scene first and take their suggestions to heart
