Well for one, stop looking at Audiobahn. Any company who's primary objective is to slap as much bling onto a product as humanly possible is not a company you want to buy anything from. Their amps are decent, and I've heard the AlumQ subs have a tiny shred of sound quality, other than that you don't want to go anywhere near them.
Second, signal to noise ratio means nothing. Until all headunit manufacturers are forced to test and rate their products in the same way on the same scale, nearly every number they publish is completely useless. You can go from a Pioneer with 94dB S/N to a Sony with 102dB S/N and hear a noticable degredation in sound quality with the Sony, the numbers mean nothing.
For a cd player, Pioneer and Alpine both seem to fit nicely, what is your budget? You can do better than Audiobahn for the amp, but it should be decent. I highly recommend not getting the Audiobahn speakers or sub, look elsewhere. Search a little on here and I'm sure you'll find many suggestions for quality products.

you are wanting two different things from the same head unit. MP3 is LOW quality, 4V preouts is a higher quality thing. S/N for CD p;ayers is strictly a function of bits in the D/A converter. Each bit represents a doubling of voltage, which corresponds to 6 dB. So a 16 bit system is capable of 16 X 6 or 96 dB, 18 bit systems are 18 X 6 or 108 dB. But since normal CD's are recorded in 16 bit format, not much use in going above that. I don't know how popular the detachable face plates are anymore.

my budget is about about $200 for amp and speakers (not sub)
I am just looking for some thing that sounds good for in a small truck
and would like for the amp and speakers to be for the same brand.

Any particular reason why?
You can get something much better if you pick and choose the best of each category instead of sticking to one brand. Companies are generally good in one area or another, or they're average in all categories. No company is the best in everything, and if you go with one company for your entire system you will most likely have paid way too much for only a semi-decent sounding system. If I were to go with one company for everything, it would be JL (except for headunit) or Alpine, no other brand would even enter my mind. However, if I could pick and choose brands I wouldn't get anything by either company except for possibly an Alpine headunit.

You are contradicting yourself here. Anyway, I have had very good luck selling the Pioneer Premier and the higher end JVC items. Obviously you like eye candy and want to sacrifice sound quality (picking Audioblah). I'd give you JVC pics but they are updating their site.
Personally, I would find DEI audio stuff. If you haven't heard it, you gotta do it. If you are close to central Ohio, I'd let you play with my demo car! www.directed.com

i am glad to read that no one here likes the flashy crap that audiobahn sells. in so cali it gets pushed big time since the owner has brothers with shops that discount the sh*t out of it to get it in cars...too bad even huge discounts can't make up for the crap quality.
but i digress, the kenwood mp3 decks are very good, try to stick with excelon if you can or go with alpine, they are very easy to navigate discs with many files and folders!

I'm in a small town called Bucyrus. I am about an hour north of Columbus. If you ever go north for Cedar Point or the Lakes, hit me up. I'll let you play with my system. :evillol: That's how I demo stuff. It's worthless going into a store and listening to a sound board. Things sound so much better in a car. People don't think so until they hear my ride. The funny thing is that I have very little money or design into it. I just made sure to get what I wanted and what would work in the vehicle.

Yep, I'm glad that you are thinking otherwise. I mean, they are better than the real cheap crap like SoundStorm, Jensen, and the like but they are no where near to Directed Audio. You really should check them out. DEI has even came out with a brand new line called Xtreme. I tell you what, they pack a serious punch for very little $$$. I sell a 500watt Mono sub amp all day long for $199. It's even got a built in crossover and all kinds of controls to tailor the music to your needs. It says that it only does 250rms @ 2 ohm but it has to be much more than that. I mean it will slap the snot out of HUGE subs. I am very impressed.
Back when I was looking for a real good line to sell I had tried about everything out there. From Visionik, Audiobahn, Ample Audio just to name a few. None of them really had me. They didn't offer a real good complete system. At first I liked Ample Audio but they change their line and it went down. So, I liked the eye candy of Audiobahn but I soon found out that's about all it was. Yes, you could buy the real high end stuff and it would be OK but it was nothing compared to DEI's CompX subs and 750d or 1500d amps. I then began to notice that Audiobahn had quality issues. Not all of the stuff performed the same. Warranties were a nightmare. Then I unloaded a huge amount of $$ on DEI stuff and never looked back since. :iceslolan

DEI stands for Directed Electronics Inc.. It is the same company that owns Viper, Clifford, Orion, PPI, and many more to name a few. You should be able to find any of this stuff. Go to www.directed.com and click onto Directed Audio then you can see their stuff. Then, copy a model number like 1500d for their true 1500 watt amplifier. The Xtreme line will be hard to find. So, you'll have to settle for this http://directed.com/coms.asp and if there is something you are looking for, I could give you a price. I will tell you that I only take payments via Paypal or money orders so you might want to find some one with a website that's a little more flexible. Hope that helps :icon16:

You'd laugh at my ride with what little I have in it. Of course I have the top of the line Python security system with remote start to keep everything where it should be. Then, I installed a JVC http://www.jvc.com/product.jsp?modelId=MODL026395&page=3&archive=true head unit since it has all kinds of controls on it. Then, I installed a set of DEI 6.5" Componets upfront and left the rear speakers as is. Then I installed a 12" DVC CompX sub. I run the DEI stuff with more DEI stuff. The brand new 300/2 amp to run the componets then the big dawg 1500d to pound the snot out of the sub. It sounds so awsome for what it is. I first have people sit in it and mess with the tunes before I let them see what it is that is slapping them in the back of the head. I can pull away ANYONE that was going to buy almost anything else after they'd sample my stuff. It's really that good. The last guy thought his Visonik crap was all that. He had 2-12's that didn't come close to the clarity and boom that my system had. His tail was tucked when he walked away :eek7:
