driver side window in my 93 sl decides that it will only roll up so far (less than half way)

could it be the motor? cause it will roll down and back up to the same point.

If it is the motor, something i could replace myself and how hard would it be

Ok, I had a similar problem on my Honda, mind you I have never taken my 3000gt doors apart to look if they are even remotely the same.
But, on my honda, when I took the door apart, there were 2 metal beams in the shape of an 'X' that lifted the track that the glass was on. The two metal strips were bolted together in the middle and they would raise the window and then lower it. If lowered they would fold up almost flat over each other. So anyways, one of these metal strips bent from excessive use (13 years). And when it bent, this metal X could only extend to a certain angle, (so the window would only go 3/4 of the way up) then it would be blocking itself and would get stuck. So to solve this, I took the interior off the door, took out the screws holding in the metal x, had a friend hold the glass pane. and took out the metal X. I then beat the hell out of it with a hammer until it straightened, and put it all back together(making sure the window was back on the track). This solved the problem for a few weeks. Then it happened again. I have garaged my honda since, so I havn't fixed it permenantly, however, I imagine you could be creative and come up with a way to reinforce the metal so that it wont bend again. Hope this helps, Geoff

thanks alot i really appreciate it, i just looked for a motor and a regulator on the 3si just i know that they are super expensive to have replaced well for a window that is

Hopefully it isn't the motor, it seems to me that if you are hearing the motor and if it was raising it halfway before then the motor is still working..That sounds really similar to the problem I had. It would work fine halfway up and then just stop. So check out that metal thing that lifts the track and window, because that is free to hammer, and it has to be cheap to replace(if necessary). And it only took me about 10 minutes to get to it.

Wonder why they didnt make a manual backup on those alot of cars have that. Thansk for the info i really hope that it isnt the motor. i jsut haste to spend between 250-300 that isnt going to increase speed
