17 seems to be the most common setting. Some people do 19 but that's getting a little too close for comfort.

I advanced the time on my sentra along time ago.. by loosening the scew next to the cap and rotor and moving it until I got the time I want.
Is this the same for the G20?

You can go to 19 with no problem. I'v got a few se-r's runnin that down here in Tx. You gotta run the good gas!:D That's with the stock ECU also...........james

Could anything bad happen to the car if you advance the timing?

You can go to 21deg btdc safely on 92+ octane. 19 btdc is the best for performance anything more than that is diminishing returns. If you have cams or a JWT ECU 15 deg is required.
Note: 19 deg BTDC will need 92 octane gas.

I've been running 19 deg. no problem for several months with a nice noticeable increase in throttle response. Oh yeah and here in the midwest the premium is 93 oct. so that's good.
