How many grease fittings are there and where are they on a 98 4.3? I know there are are a few hidden ones, one of which I had to replace because it was run dry for too long.

2 upper and lower ball joints
2 inner and outer tie rods
1 on the steering rod that connects to the tie rods and 1 that connects the stabilizer rod to the tie rods.
The U-joints should be sealed units, but, check anyways.
I think that is it for grease fittings.

there are 2 fittings on the idler arm one where the linkage atatches and one up on the side that you get at through a hole in the frame. Idr1ff got the rest. when you do this check the fluids in the front&rear diffs, transfercase and transmission. oh yeah i think there's one at the slip joint on the front driveshaft. u-joints will be sealed if they're original. so look for 12 fittings.
