Does any company still make inexpensive 80's type car audio.
Im talking about dual post AM/FM/Casettes, Equalizer-boosters, underdash Cassette-only, or underdash CD only?
Kraco, Audiovox, Clarion, Craig...are they ALL out of business?
I dont care for CD in the car, they get scratched to easily.
I put my favorite songs on Tape, and if it gets damaged, I recored another. I have two dual post radio/casettes in my vehicles, both are over 10 yrs old & have blown channels. I cant find anything to replace them. Im an older guy into classic rock, so I dont need hi-watt subwoofer stuff. Just decent 25-50 watts & an EQ to "scoop" the
tone & clean-up the older recordings

Well webslinger...the days of tape players are over..here is link for a couple

These are probably the only ones left that i have seen in a while..As for the cd's scratching easily..i have never had a problem with scratching cd's..in fact i have one that fell out of the car and was run onver by a truck..you cant even see your reflection on it but it still play perfectly...besides. you can make a copy of the cd on your computer and never touch the original...or better yet. get a mp3 cd player..you can put 10 audio cd's one mp3 cd and never have to take it out of the cd player..I have a mp3 cd with 178 songs on it..all cd quality..
Getting rid of the tape player might eliminate the need for the equalizr too..you wont have to boost the low's or the high end anymore, as the cd has musical energy well beyond the range of any tape head.
You can also plug a tape player into your computer's sound card and record the old recordings and clean them up permanently.
