Progress - Fujimi Nissan SilEighty

Something I've been working on in between daily activities and brainstorming on my Super VIP project. First completely new project in awhile. Since I had no Silvias in my collection, I picked up this Sil80.
http://www.quietrage.com/cars/fuj_sil80/sil80_box.jpg
Body painted in TS-58 Pearl Light Blue. Applied some tuner decals on the hood. Ready for many layers of clear. Wheels are Fujimi Work Meister S-2's painted a custom mix gunmetal (Mr. Metal Chrome silver + Mr. Color Semigloss black).
http://www.quietrage.com/cars/fuj_sil80/sil80_prog01.jpg
With open wheels like the S-2's, big brakes are a must. Using Fujimi's big Brembos. Since the stock brakes were molded with the springs, cutting need to be done. Other pieces needed trimming to fit the bigger brakes. Probably redo the springs too, a Kei Office suspension, maybe. Exhaust will be Apex N1.
http://www.quietrage.com/cars/fuj_sil80/sil80_prog02.jpg
No interior pics yet. Drilled out holes for gauges and for an E-01/PowerFC type device. Tamiya R34 seat w/racing harness, and Tamiya R34 intercooler are also going to be used.
Hopefully posting the progress thread will prevent me from dropping the ball on this one.

The decals are from Laubak. Didn't want to overdo it, so I just used Nismo, Apex, Mines, and Greddy. All applicable, no "sticker on car with none of their products" syndrome.

what kind of suspension are you going to try to make?

what kind of suspension are you going to try to make?
I'm thinking Kei Office Type XR. I'm not sure how much detail I want to go into it aside from painting it to look similar.
Finished the dash. Think I might have added too much stuff. Also my scratchbuilt gauges are too big. I'm thinking of ripping them out and building smaller ones. Thoughts? Opinions?

Nice job!
Nothing fancy. I always paint my headlight and taillight assemblies with Mr. Color Plate Chrome, looks much more realistic, IMO. I strip off the chrome that it comes with (doesn't apply to this kit, since lights molded to body). I then carefully mask the clear parts, paint them from behind, then after the paint dries, wax the front side to make it crystal clear.

Looks good so far. :bigthumb:
You're missing a character on the left side of your license plate. There's supposed to be a hiragana prefix before the numbers. ;)

Not sure. Probably some kind of registration sticker. Just followed what the decal placement page said.

If it's like the Tamiya kit, it's supposed to be a representation of the heads-up display for the speedo. You can see the "projector" molded into that corner of the dash...
However, I wouldn't imagine it'd be that bright, not would it be on when the car was still, and certainly not displaying "55" like that one looks like, and like it does on the Tamiya kit...

This particular kit is OOP, but Fujimi did re-release the late Sileighty version with the kouki lights and stuff as part of their Tohge series.

Small update. The car is pretty much done, just some finishing touches and pics. Busy playing GTA:SA, so not much modeling getting done right now.
