Keyless Entry Problem 2000 Silverado

Weird as it may seem, we had a problem here in Vegas a few days ago which caused keyless entry systems and garage door openers to stop working. I didn't know this so I assumed my remote was needing reprogramming. I put the vehicle in program mode but could not get the transmitter to work. Tried a battery change and reprogram with no results. Bought new transmitter and could not get it to work either. I'm stumped. Could the receiver be bad? Thoughts?
