what should i look out for?

hey everybody

im looking to get my first car, ive been looking at everything form a VW GTi, to a dsm AWD, to either a VR4 or stealth R/T. i know that most of you would say "kids shouldn't drive these cars" but i dont plan on modding it out (im spending all my $ on college) or driving like a RETARD. i just want a good/zippy stock car, which i think the VR4 and R/T TT are. i can honestly say that i am a good driver, and have driven nice cars w/o feeling the urge to go nuts.

with that being said, i found a 1994 Stealth R/T TT about an hour away from me. i called the dealer and asked about the car. i consider myslef car-litterate, but i am in no way a guru or any sorts. the car has 65k miles, and is in "good shape". it is about $14k, and the guy said that it was brought in with a non-working engine. they put a brand new engine and clutch in, which only have a few "test drive" miles on them. the engine is under a 12 mo/12k mi warranty.

i am new to the stealth r/t tt and VR4, in that i have not done any research on the net about them...i am known for being long winded so HERE IS MY QUESTION: "is there anything problematic that i should look for with this car?" i know this has been asked before, but it is a slightly hard topic to use the search tool for.

Well...i dont have my first car yet too...i'm only 14 but in Kansas we get a license when we are 14.But in april i'm going to get a VR-4 (94-98), i cant wait.But anyway.To me, may be i'm wrong but a car with 65k on it with a new engine it sounds like it had been raced alot befor.But i dont know.Thing to look out are.Make sure to look at the oil lines going to the turbo's.Or the front one becuz you cant really see the back one.Something i would look at is when you step on the gas make sure the engine doesn't move all over the place, if it does its most likely the engine mounts.But something i would look at.One thing when test driving the car is put it to the floor and which your RPM's and which your speed at the sametime.If you gain RPM's and dont gain speed (if any) the most likely the clutch is going bad..or is bad.I test drove a 96 SL and i gained RPM's but no speed.So which out for that.But other then that i dont know to much more.Hope it helps you a little.3KGT's have a bad chances with the tranny going out.Just to make you aware of that.

have the tranny and the turbo's checked out, drive it on the freeway make sure it doesn't shake a lot when turning slightly at high speeds like 70mph.

turbo's are a big thing other than that the differential and the box that spins the back wheels have had recalls
