Hard to find Electrical Components

I started out just repairing a few electrical gremlins in my sons 87 Z28, but I find that the original "weather pack" connectors (and their various siblings: metric pack, etc.) are all pretty much shot.
So I am in the process of restoring the engine compartment harness, I have been researching these connectors and I find that they were made in the 80s and possibly into the 90s by GM/Packard. they were primarilly designed to be ultra contaminant resistent,(oil,water,dust,dirt) since GM was using 5 volt senseing circuits and any contamination was intolerable. These may or may not have been good connectors but after 150K miles the heat has caused most of mine to disintegrate in my hands. I have found a few online and the odd terminals at the local chevrolet dealer, but my usual sources of hard to find electrical componants have failed me. I am sure they are available since various aftermarket custom harness manufacturers sell replacement harnesses for this car, and ultimattly they have to mate up to the original sensors which requires original type connectors.
Are their any Electricians out their (like me) that know of sources for these connectors, or even just a chevy enthusist/restorer that has stumbled across them? I imagine that they were used throughout the GM lines so they very well could have been on firebirds, or any of the chevy body styles, they also were probably used other places then the engine compartment since the local dealer found me one 2 conductor connector that was destined for the transmission.

well, i would suggest painless wiring, yearone has a catolog for nextgen performance, and the F-body catolog has many connectors if not all. you can also hit up the local junkyards, i get connectors i need there.

year one is where I found the connectors I have already, I have been to a few junkyards but they usually dont sell pieces off a harness, they want to sell the complete harness. the best I have found so far is a yard that will chop the harness at the firewall and sell me the enginewell section for 75.00. it could be worth it if the connectors were all in good shape but most are no better then what I have. I havent called painless yet, I know of them but I havent heard much about their customer friendliness. since they are manufactureing aftermarket hard to get harnesses they would have to be a above average friendly company to sell basic components or to tell where they
get them.
