Paint cracking, factory defect?

I have an 01 Dakota, I'm the second owner. On the back side of the truck, just past the wheel well the paint is cracking and lifting. I'm not an expert but it doesn't look like a repair has been done in that area, can't see where any blending was done, but as I said, I know little about auto painting. How can I tell if this is a factory defect in the paint or if it was a repair by the previous owner? And if it's a factory defect is it covered under warranty? I could post a photo if it would help.

Go down to your Local Dodge dealer and have them put a paint depth guage on diffetent places on your truck becuase if the ave. depth for your truck is 6 to 8 mill.s of paint and there was body work done there is know way that the body shop can match that. So if there are spots on your truck that are way off the ave. then there was body work done to it.
