what is the deal with men? im not putting men down i love men :evillol: its just that im a bowtie chic i love chevys and i love cars i love to work on cars and even more i love to drive cars i can never find a man who appreciates a women that loves cars escpically chevys sry but i dislike fords very much please some one give me some insight as why do men umm put down women when women are fixing cars working on cars or what about just kicking some ass!! i kno there is some tough chics out there i have beat some men on the road and trust im not intimadated if thats how u spell it!!

We're not all like that. If I could find a good lookin' girl that can change my oil for me, I'd love it. And any girl that is into cars and knows just even a little bit about them is awesome in my book.

I think all women should like to work on and race cars as much as a man. As far as liking Chevys I consider that a plus.

I agree, I'm spending countless hours tryin to teach my girlfriend about cars and i can't wait to be able to go to the shows and have her blow one of those ricers minds by listing off things i'm sure he doesn't know is in his car. I'll be thrilled when i can get a coupla things for my car and say here honey you throw this on for me. I guess its almost a turn on for me when a girl can put me in my place when i'm wrong about somethin to do with a car.

There's nothing nicer than my wife in coveralls changing the oil in her oldsmobile. That's all she knows about cars so-far, but she doesn't mind helping me out from time to time.

yep I got to go with the majority here, girls that knw thier way around a car, even if it's simple stuff like how to change oil, spark plugs, etc. they know what size the motor is (not just that it's the thing under the hood). My mom is like some gentle lady off of Little House on the Prairie, but she's intelligent, and she's tough as nails when she has to be. The first time you see your mom drive a fork lift, it's mind altering. My mom can fix anything: the giant presses in the factory, engines, etc. She works in a factory as a plumber and carpenter and electrician. Every time she was carrying another one of us kids, she would build another room in the house for us. Cars aren't her specialty, but she isn't afraid of them if one needs to be repaired. The family homestead burned down a few years back, and she had to break up and re-pour the foundation when the restoration-contractors messed up the job. The guys in the plant used to annoy her by posting porn everywhere, until she posted a huge picture of herself dressing the carcass of a 250 lb pig. Mom can take care of herself. They guys that make fun of you for being able to work on your car just don't know what you're doing... see us men, we tend to be scared by what we don't understand so we make fun of it and degrade it (or beat it to a living pulp or kill it) so it'll go away. This is the second girl that has complained about guys not liking then because they like cars. Something else has to be the issue here because guys do like girls that know about cars.

My g/f isnt a car girl but shes not afraid to help me put things together and she even offerd to come turn bolts when i finaly get a car. shes defntly not one to give up because its not girly she and i built from scratch a flight simulator for the science fair. and we both were in teh garage for hours turning bolts. so i think any girl willing to try someting outside the steryotype is cool. and i think that girls should stop being afraid guys wont like them if they arnt prim and propepr and show cleavage. if your true to yourself then youll find someone who will be true to you. dont ever pretend to be someone your not.

I definitely agree that a lady should never feel like she has to show cleavage to be liked. Any guy who isn't interested in her talents and thoughts should simply be ignored. The whole drive of our culture, pushing women to maximize physical appeal to the detriment of personal dignity, is as bad for women in society (in general) as it is for women in automotive forums (in particular). No offense to fellow AF members, but I wish that we could recognize that women are not boxed into two narrow categories of "hot" and "not hot." Hearing men talk about a woman's appearance like some sort of free peep-show bores the heck out of me. I must agree.Some of the best mechanics I've ever met were women,and a few racers also.I don't know that much about cars.But,if I could find a woman who knows more about cars than myself,and could do some of the work herself.

well to add to this post, i met a man and hes around my age im 20 and he loves cars and supposedly has am onte carlo ss 2 well we went out and i asked him if i could see his car at that point he blew up at me and said he'll show it to me later and its not important i said well i just want to see it and then he changed the subject anyways he kept changing the subject and then the next day one opf his friends said to me that he was embarssed to talk to me and doesnt have a monte carlo just said that to impress me well as it turns out he just wanted to get in my pants that nite and i dont talk to him at all should i have given him what he wanted or should i just stay away from this loser?
