oil change

How do I remove the oil pan covering disc from the skid plate on a V6? The disc has an opening that I can pry. This frees it up on one end but the disc is still firmly in place. I cannot get to come off without applying a lot of pressure. I am concerned about breaking it if I pry too hard.
