Here is my next project. It is fujimi's new skyline. Gonna be built pretty much box stock since this is my entry for my local hobby shop's 10 day build. I have till this friday to finish. Hopefully I can make it. I sprayed the body yesterday. I used House of Kolor's Cinnamon pearl. Today I finished polishing out the paint. I am kind of getting used to using the Micromesh polishing cloths. Here is a pic of the polished body. sorry for the crappy picture. I will post better ones soon.

Woooooo, shiny. Looking good, can't wait to see the end result.

I'm currently working on the Nismo version.

Nice model and a great finish! Perfect color choice...I've seen a bottle of that color this weekend, it's great. I just painted my V35 in a similar color that I had to mix (Tangerine pearl w/Gamma gold). You can see the pic of the car in my signature. I'm currently working on the Nismo version, and a two-tone Track Z in the same color.

If you airbrush the HOK paint (if it's from Black Gold), you can use Gunze Mr. Color thinner to thin the paint, it makes it flow like enamel w/o the tendency to craze the plastic that the paint and a lacquer thinner will give you if you're not careful. It's the best thinner I've found for spraying HOK/Black Gold paints. I could never get their clear to spray w/o etching the plastic underneath. It would either etch when shot wet (all mold lines would reappear), or blush when shot w/a faster drying thinner. This thinner was gone for years, but you can get it at Best1Hobbies.com and other online sources.

How do you get the paintwork so damn shiny? How and with what do you polish it?

Thanks for all the comments. :) I did a little more work today. I will be posting pics maybe later tonight. As far as the paint finishes go, I like to use automotive paints, since they are a little more durable than hobby paints. That way when I use the polishing kit, I won't cut through the clear. Here is what I use to polish my paints. The one I use is made by Alcad, not the Detail Master one. The actuall polishing cloths are the same though, made by Micromesh. Here is a link to the Detail Master one. Click here. (http://www.hobbylinc.com/htm/dtm/dtm9040.htm)

Small update. I did the panel lines, and the glass trim. I also glued the glass into place. Other small things are finished like the headlights/tail light lenses, front grill. They just have to be glued to the body. All that is pretty much left is the chassis, and the interior. 3 more days till it is due. :)

Nice! :smokin:

You might want to go back and widen the black "b" pillar trim line just behind the driver's side door. Fujimi made the frosted area much too thin; just look at the box cover for reference...the line needs to be 2-3 times as thick.

Comes in both bottles and cans, from a place called Black Gold (http://www.blackgoldweb.com/)

Thanks for the tip. I checked it out, and i made it thicker. Well today is the last day of build for this car. I have to enter it tomorrow (friday). I don't think I will be able to do any building on fri since I have to work, so it all has to be finished tonight. The body is pretty much done, all is left is the front bumper side markers, the licence plates, and the re-wax of the body. The interior is all painted, should be dry so I can assemble it tonight. When I get a chance later tonight, I'll update with some pictures. :)
