maxima vs. se-r

finally got to race an old school se-r. i was much anticipating this moment, because i was told it would be very very close.

first im coming down the street, ready to make a turn on the road and i see this riced out supra with what appeared to be 19's or 20's on. bright yellow. g'damn thing was flashy. i just made the light was it changed and just held the clutch, let out a nice rev. i just thought it was funny.

so im continuing on my way home, and i hear some kinda ricer ahead of me. it was a very loud pinging noise and it sounded a lot ricier and much higher pitched than anything i've ever heard before. i looked and im like wtf, looks like an old corrola or spirit or something. came a lil closer... it was an se-r! im like hellyea.

well i eventually made my way next to it, im looking almost all stock so he doesn't know whats up. right when i caught up to him and was to the right of him, i just looked over and stomped the gas. i wanted a piece of this guy. he kinda fell back and observed. we met at the traffic light.

im sitting there, as usual, checking out his girl. he's looking all badass "HELYA I HAVE A SLEEPER AND HE DOESN'T KNOW WHATS COMING". i just look back... o palease i know my sleepers when i see them

we lined up... light changed. we didn't dump the car out but just soft launched it and stepped on it (i guess both of us are a pansy with our clutch's :p ). man that se-r is quicker than i thought. he held all the way through first, then i shifted and jumped 1/2 car. strong pull all during 2nd, and that se-r is keeping up, until i shift again and lunge forward another 1.2 cars. it was over.. traffic right ahead.. slammed the brakes. cop is sitting right to the right of me. luckily he was just coming outta that place, and thank god there was traffic there. i can't afford another ticket (or more importantly another 2 pts). got lucky.

so after all that, traffic moves, the se-r goes by in the left lane, and of course everyone is turning right, im taking my good old time waiting behind them, and just get past the light. as the lights changing i see the yellow supra come to the left of me. im slowing down, im like wtf just pass buddy, you'd kill me. he slows down... to like 25... then he picks up and goes faster. im like wtf?

anyways, i stop at the light and got my camera on me, take a shot of the two. i thought i only got a shot of the supra but i was lucky enough to get one of the se-r too :lol2:

fun times. i didn't know the se-r was that fast, i thought he'd be way behind by 55-60. he dropped only one car length. im not sure if it was modded or not, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was almost all stock.

as with the supra... i checked the hp figures and stats when i came home. i didn't think i had a chance with it, but i looked, 220hp and 15.2 1/4mi? i coulda took that guy. damn. i doubt it was a turbo due to the location (parma), his body kit, and the amount of rice in parma.

after i took the pic the se-r somehow got behind... the supra was waiting at the light but i pulled behind him because there was very lil clearance, i seen three other cops pass me during that time and frankly i thought he'd kill me. well the light changed and this se-r comes flying from nowhere right down the right lane and swerves in front of the supra. i was in shock, just shook my head... he almost slammed into that supra!! good he put on his brakes. that se-r guy was crazy.

take a look at that pic again. se-r and a supra. both of equal speed. that's just funny! i'd pay money to see that race.

Good kill. What mods do you have done to the Maxima? BTW the SE-R's aren't that much of a sleeper (Low to mid 15's 1/4 mile wise). They do have potential though. I still remember my buddy redlining his sisters SE-R racing a modified Civic. That civic had 4 passengers in the car (We had 3), and it killed him even when it gave him the hole shot. BTW are you sure that the Supra was N/A?

All that SE-R needed to have beaten you was me behind the wheel ;).

i basically got a ypipe, 2.5" exhaust, intake, weight reduction.

my buddy ran a 15.2 with just an intake on his se-r, and he dynoed something like 130whp. those things are light (2200 lbs) and quick.

maybe the honda had a jdm swap?

yea im pretty sure the supra was n/a, take a look at the above. also didn't hear any bov's like i heard last time i seen a supra at the track.

Yeah I didn't see a turbo emblem. BTW that Honda was definitely modified. I think he probably had a B18 swap in it. I couldn't believe how fast he passed us, all the while looking like he was just playing around. He probably had quite a few mods on top of the motor swap.

yea, modded honda's usually run somewhere in mid to low 14's, they are quick. they would definately take an se-r (and prolly me). the maxima and se-r are much more closer in times stock vs. stock

Yeah i actually like races where the cars are very equal in terms of ability. the only problem is I always lose those races

An old SE-R EASILY runs mid-low 14's with bolt-ons. I have a 94 with 3 mods and it runs a 14.6

takes a lotta $$ to get a honda into the 14's

Yes and no.

Yes, because I have basically an almost stock SE-R, having only a generic cone-filter, and advanced ignition timing as my "mods", and every Maxima I have ran so far, I have beat. It seems like the SE-R mynismo ran had at least an exhaust, which usually opens up the stock motor greatly, as the stock exhaust is very restrictive.

No, because I wasn't there, and I have no idea what actually went down. For all I know, mynismo's Maxima is really that bit faster than the SE-R, and even with me driving, it'd still lose.

Of course, all that was said tongue-in-cheek, as my ";)" smiley should've conveyed.
