Wiperblades--quick response

Help!!!

I need to replace my windshield wiperblades, but they are 2 different sizes!!!!!! The driver's side blade is 20 1/2" and the passenger side is 18 3/4"

Why??? Should they be different like that?? I need to get these replaced so I don't fail inspection a second time...

What should the sizes be? Do they really need to be 2 different sizes??? What size should I get if I make them both the same?

A speedy response would be awesome!

They are different sizes for a reason! The driver's side blade covers a wider area on your winshield. Just buy the same size, and you'll be just fine!

Please don't tell me some asshole failed you for your wiper blades. If so, find another inspection station. He's a creep.

Actually, they failed me for my tires, but I wouldn't put it past them to fail me for wiperblades...

The place doing the inspection is a tire place, and they said my tires wouldn't pass (1/32). So I get new tires today, and this place measured the tires before disposing them, and their measurements would have given me room enough to pass inspection (2/32 side, 3/32 center) ... Buggers! I may be a girl, but I'm not stupid... and atleast I didn't give the tire place my business for the tires themselves!

P.S.--I don't like having weird wiper sizes like that! :o That's so odd! :p Oh well, looks like I'm gonna have to deal...

Ahh, I"m glad I live in Indiana where they don't inspect vehicles for anything!

Hey Tangie,

It is the same her en Europe!! The left wiper blade is longer than the left for the same reason as Geo says..........

They can't fail you on the wiper blades, when they are meant to be different sizes!!?? :)

But according to you George, he's doing his job. Right?

oooooooooooooh!!!!!! I think it's time for my escape before someone *ahem* gets hurt!!!

As for the whole different size issue, they didn't say anything to me about the wipers, but they do need to be changed... I'm just a "symmetrical" person, so when I know that something is different sizes it just kinda irks me. Just like how my snow tires are either S or T speed rated, and my rear tires are H rated... That's just weird. :p

Oh, and a GIANT thanks for everyone's quick answers! :flash:

speaking of wiper blades........which brand has everyone found worked the best? :)

I think it depends on where you live!!

Here in Denmark we need wiper blades for all kinds of weather/temperatures, and that change the demands for the composition of the wiper blades.

So I don't think you can say that one wiper blade is better than another!! i think you have to take to consideration where you live.

Here in Denmark we have from -20 to 30 degrees. So we need to have wipers that stay soft in all temperatures, so the preferred wiper here in Denmark is Bosh Twin or original NISSAN wipers. The Bosh Twin wiper is made out of a two-component rubber that’s stays soft under all conditions without getting to soft when it is hot.

Whatever you do don't get the double-bladed wipers. A mechanic told me that they burn out some motor or something.

Bosch Twin is not double bladed just single bladed made out of a two component material! :)

Here in Az I hardly ever use mine, but because of the heat, and sun in the summer time they dry out quickly. :( I usually end up needing to buy a new pair at least once a year. :(
Maybe that's a sign... it's just too hot here...
