How many different types of intakes are there? I know there's a short ram and a cold air but are there other types? Also, which one is the one that would be the most closes in ratio to the stock intake?

Closest in ratio? As in how restrictive or what.

The size and length of the pipe.

you would have to have one custom made or find someone that makes them

what do you mean by "short ram"? i hope you do not mean "ram air" because i will just let you know right now that "ram air" will not happen unless you are going speeds that no 3/S will ever go. for the most part, it is a myth but it does happen to a noticable extent if you have a very specifically built intake and you are going at least 350 mph or so.
as for intake options, there are many. you can replace the stock airbox with a k&n or something similar, there are dual intakes that are real nice that i think are sold by dn performance, and there are real nice setups like the blow through and the stuff that comes with an aem and you can get that from driven performance (see sig)

Short ram meaning the type of intake (I'm assuming it's referring to the type of pipe). I know there are different brands with intakes but I'm talking about the types. For example, I know cold air intakes extends to the bottom of your car. So I was wondering aside from short ram and cold air intakes, what other types are out there? And which one is the most close to the stock as far as the length and size goes (if I'm making any sense!?!). Thanks guys.

i think DN is the most close to stock you can get. what it does is replace your stock rubbre pipe with an (aluminum) one, i cant spell so good :icon16: so your mas is in the same place and you can use the filter of your choice, i think, it might come with its own.
as far as cold air you can find some on ebay that will mork with minor moding (i went this route) that are for the 01+ eclipse gt.
good luck :smokin:

ACTUALLY a cold air intake, not just an open element air filter, replacement for the stock air box sucking in hot air

my friend got a kit for his cavalier from there and we basically had to remake the whole kit,we had to trim the piping etc. that was about 2 yrs ago so maybe they have made progress, but what happens if its raining on this one many cheap kits have no way to not suck up water. water in the engine is no good unless its used for cooling

N/A SAVAGE - is there anything holding the piping down securely, so that it isn't flopping all over the place?
also, the filter sits right behind the air vent/fog light on the passenger side? so if you crouch down in front of the car u can actually see it? is this all true?
youve driven in the rain with it and no water got sucked up? thanks

On my Honda, (I don't know about 3000gt CAI), but they had bypass valves available for something like 30bucks that would prevent water getting into your intake, but I never saw a need for it, I think its just precautionary.
