Hmmm.... Try solving this problem in reverse. Instead of finding the rating for a 1991 2.3L Mustang, clean off the alternator and search for any identifying marks, labels or serial numbers and search directly off of the alternator. I was able to match a factory A.C. Delco stereo to the appropriate car using this method.

You can try getting it bench tested at your local auto parts store ( i.e. AutoZone)or they'll have the specifications on the computer terminal. Write them down while they're up on the screen.
I searched on Google.com and found the rating to be 75 amps and I'm assuming 14.5 Volts ( because pretty much most factory car alternators run at 14.5 Volts ).

Mendari's correct! It's rated at 75 amps, and a normal alternator ranges from 13.8-14.5 volts.
