JGTC in Sepang this year... hotels n stuff

Has anyone been for the JGTC at Sepang in Malaysia in previous years? I'll be going this year, and was wondering which hotels would provide a convenient location, and info like that.
In addition, can anyone give a description of the spectator area, and if it's possible at all to get good photos? I'm thinking of lugging my 500mm lens along, but need to be certain I'll get a good vantage point first.
